I bought my '99 new in '99. Road it until 2014, when I could no longer comfortably ride it (GenMar bars added the last few years) when I was 60. Still ride a sport touring bike (Ninja 1000), which has a bit more upright riding position.

Not sure if you guys consider riding a moped a valid form of motorcycle riding, but I started when I was 15 when I visited my cousin in California. They had a moped which they let me ride from El Toro to Newport Beach all the time. That was 58 years ago! There was a gap of 10 years before I got my first real bike, a 305 scrambler.

Also mowed lawns, sometimes with a push mower with no engine-- and collected coke bottles in fields for 5cents for gas.
    Fun times

No engine? Wow, that's old school! I mowed lawns but my mower at least had an engine! I was always jealous of the guys whose mowers provided their own forward propulsion! haha

Forgive me for not reading through all 71 pages - was "older" ever clarified? It's relative/subjective, right? I remember running around my neighborhood with other kids thinking that this/that guy was Old because he was in high school and could Drive!

Just came across this old post? Hope you are still riding and enjoying the VFR. If my math is correct you should be about fifty eight now? I purchased a VFR800f on 05 July 2016 I was fifty seven at the time (now 58) Never too old to ride.

I think that you have more than an answer to her with this "what 7yr post"! What you ride is a matter of your mental mind set and not your age! Not married but, bike, guns and career choices added to this. Relationships come and go. But, I do not have to deal with a constant opinion at my age! I'm fine with that until I am dying without a partner. :)

57 in 2 weeks. Had an original '83 VF750F for years, sold it to a guy who shipped it to Norway. Now I have a 6th Gen that was purchased as a basket case 2 years ago. 100% reliable since I had the wiring harness recall carried out. Love to ride at every opportunity. I'm even considering doing the next track day on it in October. That'll be a workout for both of us...

63 almost 64 and I still have 2 6th Gens, both 07's. One RWB and one Candy Glory Red. They have never been together on the same coast before but soon will be so I am going to likely sell one. Probably the red one? Fresh Pilot 4 tires, Evans Waterless coolant, new clutch and brake fluid. I also have a full set of scaffolding and matching OEM panniers including a topbox. Heli Bars and peg lowers too. Can't remember the mileage exactly but less than 5K I think? Shame to let one go as I love them both, but seriously, I need the room as I have other bikes also. Would like it to go to a good home is all.

I'm 64 and still ride my 83 VFR I bought new in Germany. I raced it the first few years I owned it, then it sat for a few years, then I street rode it, now it's going back to the track in vintage racing.

Just turned 61, no interest in a Harley.

Buying the VFR my thoughts were - "if not now ... when?"
