I've followed this site since the Karl Marsh days. For at least a couple of years I checked this site more than once a day. I'd always find interesting discussions by a group of informed riders - remember Tourmeister, vfrhugh, rich, and what happened to vifferchic? It seems like we have become a place to locate misc. nuts and bolts and sell occasional bikes. There don't seem to be any threads longer than a couple posts. I remember a thread on the VFR's top speed that was ten pages long with 50 posts. I've had a lot of great info from this site that's helped my riding and enjoyment of a great bike - bring it back on guys! Jeff McQueen

Hey Jeff! How's it goin' buddy? Long time no chat.

I couldn't agree with you more. I hardly ever visit the site anymore because no one ever replied to any of my questions/responses anymore. I miss the good ole days myself. Well, maybe we can get it up and going again.

However, I must say with misfortune that I no longer have my VFR. I was rear-ended by a drunk driver two weeks ago and it totaled my bike. Over $8300 worth of damage. Fortunately, I escaped with only minor injuries compared to what "could have" happened. I doubt that I get another Viffer but I might. I still would love to be envolved with VFRworld though.

Come on guys ... let's see what you've got. ;)

I haven't been on this site for very long, but I haven't gotten any help what so ever off this site. I still check it but there is never anything on here. I thought this would be a happenin board, guess I was wrong!!

Well it used to be. Maybe we can revive it -- maybe give it a little CPR or something. ::)

    Hey VifferChic,

I hope I'm reading too much into your post. It kinda sounds like you're not going to ride anymore after your accident. :( I hope that's not the case, VFR or not. ;)

Oh, I will definitely get back on another bike. Right now I'm just waiting for the insurance company to settle things. I just won't be getting another VFR.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the Viffer but I think I'm going to move on to something a little more sport, lightweight and less expensive to maintain. I'm staying with Honda though and looking at the new 1000RR. But we'll see.

Me too VFRGirl but you don't have much of a say in it when you get schmucked from behind by a drunk driver. :-/ Shizit happens. Be prepared for anything.

Compared to what "could have" happened, my injuries are minor. I have some nerve damage in my left shin, swelling and bruising, jammed right shoulder and some serious neck pain. Other than that, I'm pretty good. ;)

I'll be back and riding again soon hopefully. Still waiting for the insurance company to settle the property damage.

I'll second that. I'm also jealous of your '86 500. Very cool bike.

another dead thread? having joined recently and not personally knowing anyone and a year has gone bye since the start of this thread. i have these questions. vifferchic, when struck by the drunk driver, what protective riding gear were you wearing and the brand name and how did it help you or not. I THINK ALL RIDERS WANT TO HEAR ABOUT GOOD OR BAD EQUIPMENT! secondly you stated that your new 1000rr is cheaper to maintain than a vfr. do you believe that or did a salesman tell you that? most of the maintance items i buy are about the same cost ie. oil, filter, plugs, hh pads, tires, etc. point being, the 1000rr is certainly a sportier looking bike, but how many vfr riders ride to the bikes sport ride ability. certainly not me!
i hope you have fully recovered from your injuries and ride for fun often on any bike you chose. ALTHOUGH there maybe another first class bike in your future, another VFR!!!!!!!!!!!

I have become a lurker  Most of my activity has been in the form of responding to emails I get from folks that see past posts here and find their way to my personal website. My wife and I sold our VFR's in '04. I had racked up over 100K miles between the two of them in about four years and was looking for something different. Living in the middle of several National Forests, I was bitten by the dualsport bug and bought a BMW R1150GS. The VFR will out accelerate it and run faster top speed (man I hated that thread hehe), but the GS takes me places I'd never dare tread on the VFR. I miss my VFR but I get ocassional fixes from some friends that have VFRs

My time has also be spent developing a Texas based riders forum, Two Wheeled Texans. Keeping a forum running smoothly takes a LOT of behind the scenes time and effort! I think this is something members of many forums take for granted. I guarantee Mike spent a ton of time making the new changes to the site (which rock by the way!).

Most of my forum activities have been non bike specific. I still do some ride reports here and there as I get the time. I have spent a great deal of time putting together group rides, trips and other events. You might think some of my events were VFR specific given the number that show up! Since buying the GS in April of 04, I have put 45K miles on it. Now I have a one year old and another kiddo on the way so my riding may start tapering off for a while. I am doing everything I can to ensure that I get to keep at aleast one bike :thumb:

VifferChic, sorry to hear about the accident and glad you weren't hurt worse! I hope the insurance bozos treat you right!

Community is what we make of it I guess. I admit I haven't even logged on for more than a year. But I'm psyched about the re-launch, and detemined to help make it a great community again.
A great rides section, local rider groups, these are all things I think will make this more than classified ads.
(sorry to hear about the wreck viffer - I hear next version of the Interceptor is going to finally address your concerns over weight and power)
    Ride safe all.
