If you don't find a manufactured metal chainguard, A sheet metal shop can fabricate one for you. Some Community Colleges and high schools have shops that take in work too.

What BB said. When I had my 87, I designed a simple one using some left over poster board - folded and cut it into the shape I liked, traced the flattened paper on a sheet of aluminum, cut out the aluminum, drew lines where the folds were supposed to be, and had a shop put the bends into the metal for me. Then I went back and fine tuned it, drilled holes for the mounting hardware, and put it on. It definitely wouldn't win any show awards but it worked and, IMO, looked better than the stock plastic one... :)

I can order one from Germany, but like the idea of making one. Don't know why I didn't think of that to start with.
