Just got my Shindengen FH020AA from Roadstercycle.com in mail yesterday and about same price as Electrosport. Pretty sure all the advice here on VFRWorld has steered me in right direction on this one and should last compared to others. Super fast shipping too. I bought the complete kit that requires some soldering but that is fine with me to save a few bucks and I have soldering station. If you don't want to solder, buy superkit (or the one where soldering done) and all that is done for you at an added 20 bucks. Solid looking kit and pieces/parts out of the box.

In fairness post #5 above already pointed them to "the drill" which (if you have the will to courage to wade through numerous pages of comments) includes plenty of very clear comments about what to buy/avoid.

Personally I only spotted this thread very late in the day and wonder if we now need to produce a condensed "the drill" thread with just a clear description of the tests to do, guidance on how to do them for total newbies and positive recommendations on what to buy if you don't want to be messing with the same issue further down the line. Even so financial considerations may still force people to choose less reliable solutions.

    Lol
You indeed should return it due to some purchase mistake or something...
Go for oem! They are good... The bad thing is the bike and the cooling of it.
I'm dreaming about a dedicated electric oil pump to keep the stator cooled, but again, just dreaming.
And the mosfet indeed solves all regulator/rectifier issues finally.

A series rr (the sh847 from roadstercycle) should reduce stator temps significantly.

Hmmm, yes CandyRed, but series rr are known to induce high tension peaks on stator coils that could break insulation and degrade the stator finally... They are useful on race bikes with low electric requirements because peaks are lower the less amps you require from the stator.
But they gave good results to other users on the forum, so, if you are wising to try it do it! I'm happy for now with the original bike's oem stator and a fh012ab mosfet rr.

I have had an oem stator and fh020aa for the last five or six years and 30 something thousand miles. I'm currently right at about 70k miles total. My original system only made it 3 years and 25k miles, so the oem stator/shindingen mosfet rr is definitely superior. With that being said, my current oem stator is finally starting to show some signs of hot shorting (when in heavy +100*F traffic for 30 plus minutes, voltage will suddenly drop into the 12's until the bike cools off for a while), so I will be eventually trying the sh847 series rr with a new oem stator.
