If this had a reverse, it would be worth making it a daily commuter! You do have to wonder though, how much stress gets placed on the transmission, considering it's several hundred pounds heavier than a stock VFR.

The two fat dudes don't make it any lighter either. :)

Is the guy who talks constantly the new owner?

Here is one with the original owner, at 10:30 he accelerates with the header knob on open and gives it a bit of stick on the road, definitely worth listening to loud.

The passenger who I guess is the builder/owner says the car uses a Ford rear end. No telling what the final gear ratio is. The driver, the dude who is schlepping coffee in the first frames says he's at 6K rpm at one point. Not clear what gear or the speed..

I remember seeing the build on this car and now that it's finished wondered why the builder would sell it. Then at the end of the ride it turns out that he is building a new and improved version. Probably sold it to finance the new build. Any idea what it sold for? I have seen so many put their heart and soul into a build only to sell it when it's finished, I think for many its all about the build and not so much having it at the end.

Ten pesos says the new one won't have a Harley engine.

Several types of racecars run bike engines. A plug for George Dean? Yep! George worked his magic on my 91 when the gremlins appeared. Straight shooter, good guy. Check oot his dyno and flow bench.

OK, I finally have time to reply to this post.

I owned and drove one of these to college in the fall of 1982, and spring 1983.

It had a 600cc HONDA motor, and a manual transmission with three on the floor.

If you revved the engine between first and second then "dumped" the clutch, you could do a short burn out at speed (around 30 - 35 mph).

It was light enough that a few of my very good friends carried it 30 feet or so and left it in a landscape island in the midst of the college parking lot for me to discover later.

On a sad note, I just brought it to the scrap yard about two months ago. It had been sitting at the family business shop yard, unused since I drove it last.

It would have been way too much work to fix it up, too much road salt years ago.

Ya screwed up by scrapping it, Joe. Should have given eBay a go with it.

The 600's are hot right now, and likely to stay that way for quite a while.
Someone would have given you a grand for the car, just for the parts it could be stripped of.

The Gym teacher in Jr. High had one and as a prank, a bunch of us rotated his car 90 degrees while it was parked between two other teacher's cars who, on that day were on a field trip. He had to wait all day until the got back and boy was he pissed about that. Although he had no proof who did it, he assumed it was kids in his gym classes, all of his classes the next day suffered an extreme case of Physical Education! A lot of sore muscles the following day.
