Hi All, After many years of working on older BM's. I thought, I would branch out in a new direction. I bought and original first gen VF750F that just clocked over 40,000 km on the ride home.

Congrats, you will enjoy tinkering with the classic design, have had mine since 83. I have always thought the first gens were almost prototypes.

Thanks for the replies. The previous owner had the VF for a long time and wanted to keep it as original as possible. Some of the patina is starting to show though, Discussion time in letting slowly rust away gracefully. Or fix up the flaking engine paint and rust spots poking in through on the frame paint.

What I do really need is a 1st Gen tool kit. After 30 odd years of working on bikes. This one does feel like a prototype for racing. The quick removal of the front fairing and fuel tank. Then it gets a bit tricky in removing the oil filter and checking valve lash.

    Welcome aboard Strommer!

That there is a very pretty bike. I owned one just like it in 1985 and keep an eye out now for one as a restoration project. Yours looks in great condition.

Did a driveway "restoration" awhile back, powder coated fork tubes an other parts, ceramic coated Vance & Hines headers, cleaned up a lot of rust on bolt heads with bench buffer/wire brush, replaced just about all the rubber parts including tires, but did not remove engine and do frame. Not possible where I live. I did use Krylon silver paint on the frame to cover up small rust spots. carefully masked around areas and sprayed small areas at a time. Doesn't look half bad.
Here is a shot just that show frame best:
