Too bad you don't have a sixth gen. Then you could just mill the heads a few thousands, port and polish, degree the cams and do a custom fuel/ignition tune and make power everywhere.

I have heard that neither filter is mouse, rat or squirrel proof. Squirrels of the rodent variety to maintain clarity.

Wow, Crazy K-N , So after a few conversations with a couple techs, outa the blue they send me a new KN airfliter for me to play with.. Kinda weird they went the distance in what I was looking for. Too bad the oil filter division doesn't listen huh. After a bit of checking sizing with other KN filters, it's looking like a Toyota corolla 1.8 filter will do nicely.

And here I thought this thread had been humanely euthanized. A simple vacuum box is all it takes to compare outright filter flow characterisitcs of different filters. I will let the guys with EIT or PE after their name pontificate on the differences in laminar or turbulent airflow, velocity stack design and application, the importance of airbox resonance and volume, and valve overlap.

Ok, well things just got interesting. First, I made an assumption as the address on the sender was KN. So of coarse my first off thoughts, doh, it was a KN air fitter. My last conversation told me they only make the one I have. Either they're blind, as I sent a photo of what I had, and the other one I was looking for. in that they said they didn't make that version any more due to a fitment issue. Then I open the box only to find this.

The original one I have on the left, new one on the right. Go figure.

Though I like what you added with the pros knowing their trade. I'll just whip out my air flow bench and do a run down... Not!! You thought wrong. I won't hold that against you, we all make mistakes now and then. it's all good. Thanks for the nudge, I forgot about looking into V- stacks. ;)

Sounds like you want more compression and head flow, not more aggressive cams. Sucks you can't just mill the heads (though a port and polish would be nice). Maybe you can have some cams made with more lift, but factory duration.
