In reconsidering getting a viffer, I want to know about tie-on points. I travel with a waterproof Wolfman tail bag which has ties each side fore and aft.

What does the VFR have for attaching this? I want it across where the panniers are as seen in the attached pic of my former bike.

Are you looking at the 2014+ 8th generation Viffer?

If so, the rear pillion seat has four loops underneath for tie down. Basically you take the pillion seat off the bike via the ignition key in under the tail light and you'll see the four black loops you can pull out from the holding tabs, pop the seat back onto the bike and voila! 4 handy tie points to suit pretty much any tail bag you can get. 20170509_145645.jpg

Yes, eighth gen. Thanks! That, plus a few bungees for insurance, should do it!

I saw two of the four when looking at a new 2014 DLX last night right before the store closed.

Here's my Wolfman nicely tied onto my current ride, the BMW F800GT. The front ties go down to the frame members that are below the under-seat fuel tank, and the rear ties bind to the tail rack.

I know the viffer has those under-pillion-seat ties, so may I presume my Wolfman will tie to a VFR OK?

Tie down straps under the seat are just grand.

Hard panniers if ya have them provide support to the bags. Handy to have a rack like the BMW 800 for strapping stuff to. A little hardware wrangling and mods to where the grabhandles attach can be used too. Same deal with the "frankenbolts. For straps and associated hardware a loft shop sometimes does the trick and some even have info on getting the strapping attached by sewing. I use shoe repair guys.

Ventura makes several racks for Hondas that are mountable/dismountable easily.

Basically three attach points for those big bags is good.

For alternative seekers, google up "giant loop saddlebags". The founders of the company are back country offroad riders out of Bend, Oregon.
