Pulled the keihin CV carbs from my 86 vfr700. I want to remove the jet needle from the diaphram/piston assembly. The needle is held in by a plastic bolt. I stuck a 8mm socket on it but just rounds the plastic head. The FSM has some vague reference to pushing on the needle while loosening the bolt.

I mostly see circlips holding carb needles in place. How the heck do you get that plastic piece out ?

    thnks

Push down and turn the phillips-head portion about 1/8 turn CCW while putting a little pressure upwards on the needle from below.:loyal:

Why do you want to pull your needles? Are they bent? You usually do not want to mess with your main needles unless they are bent or broken.

You can reach into the slide with pliers and grip it while you turn it if damaged, helps pull it oot as well. A longer set of quality needle nose will get it done, just a partial turn and they come oot.

Apparently they aren't always CCW. Two of the plastic needle holders had to be rotated clockwise to remove.
