Brake Disc Bobbins

Never thought about maintenance on these, on any of my bikes.... Luckily I was meticulous with the Boulevard and I only had put 25K on her.

 

tried a couple of mine today,they would not move by using my fingers so I tried it the same way as the video,they did move when brake cleaner but they made a sort of grinding/rubbing noise,no dirt came out at all and after doing it I still could not move them,each bobbin has an 'O' on it,is that normal and if so what is it for??

EBC is half correct. I have EBC Pro Line rotors on mine. The bobbins DO NOT spin, they are not round. They are keyed to the hole with flat spots so they will not spin (ask me how I know) but will still allow them to float up and down. If you have this type of bobbin and you try to spin it you will destroy it.

I don't seem to be getting notices to subscribed threads from the past. I guess all the subscriptions were lost with the change over of software. The search engine on this new software is poor as well as it did take a while to re-find this thread.

That is a good informative find Kizer. I guess it still goes back to giving it a try. If you have to exert too much pressure to spin the bobbins, STOP! and step back. Something is wrong. Either the bobbin is totally seized, or as Kizer had learned, is not supposed to spin.
