Amazingly, no one was seriously injured, either in the plane, on the ground, or in the 3-4 vehicles that were clipped as it crashed landed in the middle of street, and slid into a bus lane while on fire.

For those outside the area, Mukilteo is just west of Paine Field, where Boeing conducts flight tests for their wide-body aircraft (747, 767, 777, 787) produced in Everett. Paine Field is also used by many private pilots, as well as the US Air Force, who periodically perform touch-and-go's for their EA-18 aircraft from Whidbey Island. In other words, it's a very busy air field.

This incident appears to be a case of engine trouble soon after take-off, and it appears by either dumb luck or pilot skill that the plane, after clipping the power line, was able to be put down in the middle of the road, and not in contact with any buildings, including the gas station just north of the crash site.

Luckily, the worst things that happened were the power was out to most of the area for less than an hour, and a huge traffic jam ensued, as this occurred at 3:45 pm, just as rush hour was starting to spool-up.

Lucky folks in the plane and on the ground. 1545 is busy anywhere near I-5.

For those wanting to take a closer look at the area, Win10 maps.

Quite a few years ago there was a small plane crash here in So Cal where the plane ended up crashing on a golf course. Found out the next day it was my general manager of the place I worked! One lucky SOB, although he almost lost one of his feet, it was almost severed completely off his leg. He's doing well now and still flies too!

Military pilots are footprinted for ID purposes.

Any landing you can live through is a good landing, saw that yesterday. pretty crazy how there wasn't any loss of life considering where this happened at. Yes good on the pilot too, thats a tough situation to be in. Just hate to be in his shoes when the NTSB / FAA get a hold of him. On the golf coarse landing, Harrison Ford did one of those too.

I saw that this morn, too. Was it clipping the power lines that ignited it?

It appears from the dash cam video the contact with the horizontal end of the traffic light stanchion must have punctured the left wing tank, as up until then, no fire is evident.
