Beautiful 80 degree day and all I could do is look at them while I wait for stitches to heal from removing some bad spots, including my ear which makes it hard to cheat and put my helmet on! Another week.

If you don't mind me asking RVFR how much did the stainless steel brake lines cost for the bike? I noticed that they do not make them for the 2014. That sucks!

I just got back from wearing my tires down. 150+ miles of spirited canyon carving. My eternal VFR always delivers! Looks like after my trip to Montana, I'm going to have to get some stickier rubber. I'm walking the rear tire out on turn exits. Only a few times tho and fun as fork! My "old" '99 kept up with two different Ducatis, nooo problem! Kept having to hit the brakes every now and then, even behind a 1098!
Rode from Moorpark to Cold Spring Tavern up above Santa Barbara. Damn I love this ol' girl! I've worn out my front tire from trail braking into turns and the usual hard cornering/braking. Damn thing never ceases to amaze me. No chicken in the back whatsoever and running low on chicken in the front! The T30s are get for sporttouring tires, and I never thought I'd be breaking them free on my old VFR, but, I guess I am. Soooo love my bike. I'm so impressed with what it can do!

Well, it's 62 degrees today and I took off work early at 4. I found a site (http://www.pure-gas.org.) last night listing every station in Utah and the country from people listing sites to go to and dates found. Cool site to have on the phone while going long distances. I took a ride around the Salt Lake Valley searching for the elusive ETHANOL FREE gas. I thought that it was odd that we have 2-3 refineries in the salt lake valley and they did not produce this gas. Between Utah, Colorado and Wyoming I think we have all of them that produce most of the gas for the western U.S. I finally found some near me and was VERY happy! 88 grade like most prefer to higher octane. $2.71-$2.95 a gallon. I found two places in Logan Ut. and Spanish Fork Ut. that had 100 and 110 octane. Don't know if these have benefits, but think that at these levels could cause problems with rings down the line. I did not even think that there was such a thing until I saw it on the forum! Thanks Peeps! I would have filled up and looked for the difference, but I have 3/4 of a tank of nasty 91 with ethanol. I will have to wait to see what I have missed for 20+ years. As far as the car is concerned its a 3yr old Hyundai and don't think that it will know the difference!:courage:

That is interesting Lint. I just put T30 Evos on my VTR1000 and have noticed an occasional bit of drift from the back end on turn exits occasionally. I suspect it is more to do with the hard construction of these rather than the compounding, as it only happens on very rough bends where the tyre is starting to skip around a little. By contrast on the same roads I never noticed anything like that with my last Metzeler Z8's or the new Roadtec 01's that I have now on the VFR. I wanted to try the Bridgestone's as I had heard good things about them and the price was right, but I much prefer the Roadtecs.

I can't remember the road being bumpy, but I do know I was sliding the rear around when blasting it off a turn, but I was still leaned over. Definite picking it up at the same time, but, it's soooo fun!!!

The ride I did yesterday to the cafe would be considered canyon carving roads, the region is mountainous wet subtropical rainforest. It's scenic, lots of people cruising around on the weekends taking in the beauty also lots of motorcycle riders. It's a great road. Some riders go carving up the sharp, winding, mostly blind corners going fast fast fast - track racing speeds. I've had a few close encounters there where I find an oncoming rider out of control on a corner crossed into my lane. I've had an knuckles to knuckles clash with another rider once before resulting broken fingers and out of ridding action for a while. It's a challenging road even without water seeping across it and fine gravel the colour of the bitumen washed over the surface. Lots of ways to become unstuck. Every now and then you hear of or read about fatalities, yesterday it happened again. A young guy came unstuck on a corner colliding with a truck. Very tragic.

Great rides like this, where motorcycle riders racing and dying, end up with speed limits dropped so low and patrolled by police become so undesirable as a great ride. I hope it doesn't happen here as it did on the Walcha Mountain Climb.

"Widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s best climbs, the 160 kilometres of highway from Wauchope to Walcha is a draw for motorcycle enthusiasts the year round."

    http://www.macleayargus.com.au/story/4180093/oxley-highway-speed-limits-change/?cs=1274

It's said, "Take it to the track" and I'd have to agree...

Do you think the Metzlers, or I guess other sorts touring tires have more wrap around on the tire, i.e. more rubber to lean over farther? I'm all the way to the edge of my rear already. More to go on the front, a little, but I'm curious. Just wondering if perhaps the Q3, or the S21 may allow more lean angle.

Yep, sad when that happens, crazy how it goes too, same questionable riding here.

On what today with the VFR. Buttoned it up getting it ready for the finishing touches with a muffler of sorts, then off to the dyno

I can tell you this, before my low side, at the track and one ride in Malibu, I got the front (Bridgestone S21) all the way to the edge! Although considering what happened on the off ramp, maybe not a good idea to go that far

You have one of these M9.jpg in the box. My favorite little hand gun, until I fired a Glock 21.

Hump days are always good for a ride! :tranquillity:
Yesterday, went for a ride around the mighty Clarence River and around the backroads of the sugar cane fields. Many parts of the river have roads right alongside, it's spectacular riding through lush scenery of this vast fertile floodplain. The Clarence River prawns (shrimp) are Mmm Mmmmm well worth stopping for, to buy freshly caught from the local fisherman.

Btw, I didn't take the photo, my VFR flys but not that high! ;-)

I rode my VFR today after bringing her hibernation and adding Helibars last night. I was planning on selling her, but after many months of putting it off I accepted the fact that it wasn't going to happen (and no one wants a 100k mile bike). I haven't been riding her since I like the upper body ergos of my Monster more, but my legs are finally sick of daily rearset torture. I must say, I should have bit the Helibar price bullet years ago...LOVE them. The VFR is offically back in regular rotation!

I noticed the next morning that my rear tire sure pressure was 38 psi, when according to the rep at Bridgestone, for maximum grip, it should be 36 psi. I don't know how much of a difference that would make, but it's what I noticed.
