I'm thinking the new Ducati Supersport might make a good starting point, seems to have Superbike looks with Sportstouring ergos, then maybe have a look at the BMW1200RS and KTM1290GT.

At my age? Probably a casket and plot. If I were to stay with the same style of bike, I would be trying a Duc like John suggest. However, I wouldn't mind going on long tours in something better suited for this type of riding. I would certainly look at a Wing. Then maybe I could get my wife to join me on some rides.

    Wait....maybe I should delete that.

I only recently purchased my VFR so what I'd buy instead is a recent topic for me.

I wouldn't buy the Kawasaki Ninja 1000. It is a good bike but the problem for me is that all of the Kawasaki dealers within 30 miles are all scum bags.
Same with any BMW, only one dealership that sells them (in a city of 2 million+) and they have rewritten the book on how to be a bunch of arrogant wankers. VFR destroys the F800GT though in every way possible.

For myself it would probably be a Suzuki, either the GSX-F1000 or the Bandit.
I like the Bandit's engine, that lazy big bore and smooth 4 cylinder. But it's top heavy and no where near as nice to chuck around as the VFR and it's very plain jane. The GSX-F's only advantage over the VFR is power, it pales against the VFR on every other aspect.

The Ducati Super sport wasn't around when I shopped though, looks nice so I'd definitely have a look before committing to anything else though.

I believe the steam powered bikes that are coming from HD are direct drive too. Given a few years down the road and if we all live long enough the dudes who like to tell how heavy they are on the throttle will be telling how heavy they are on the rheostat.

My very first out-of-state ride to Nova Scotia and Gaspe Peninsula was done on an F4.
It reminds me of a mini-VFR which was great for my size.

If I had to trade, I may get another F4 of F4i or the Honda 500x.
I test rode that at MotoGP...great for what I want to do for future rides.

I would get a MZ sprinter about 28 feet long.

My VFR is a 98, so whatever it might be it has to be newer.
Maybe an 8th gen VFR, it would sort of go with my 8th gen Accord V6 cage. 8 ball and all.
I can't tow that big ass 5th wheel RV behind either one, you will have to keep that thing.

If I had to get rid of my 5th gen, I think I would hunt down a Triumph Sprint ST.
Another great sports tourer, but with a bit more umph.

If you were to get yourself one of those, would you join a MZ Sprinter forum? I may start up a collection. Might only need half the value collected because I may be interested in kicking in 50%
