Anyone know what this black box is? I'm in the process of cleaning up the various wires that are attached to add on electronics. The box is in the compartment on the other side of the battery. It attaches to the same part of the harness that the kickstand safety switch attaches to. I've looked through the shop manual and can't find this in the wiring schematic or in the electrical connects chapter.

That looks like a "handy" box you would find at an electronics store, not stock. PO must done some custom wiring.

Nope. I guess the question is, since it IS connected to the harness, any idea what's connected at the other end?

The only add on the p.o. did was heated grips, and I followed the circuit from rheostat, to heat troller, to grips. The box itself only has an output, no input wiring. SIGH

Four connections to that junction, 2 O2 sensors (replaced by resistors), side stand switch and vehicle speed sensor which has been replaced, modified or eliminated?

What colour are the wires on both sides of the mystery connector.

Possibly a LO-JACK vehicle recovery system.

According to the schematic, there are three wires at that connector: Brown/Blue +12V, Green Ground & Purple. Purple goes to dash for speedometer and to the ECM. It's there in the schematic, down at the bottom in the center. Speedsensor is a circle with 4 tabs on it.

For the speedometer to work and for the ECM to get proper data, there has to more wires/connections unless it is some custom wireless speed sensor. More than likely, an aftermarket speedometer correction unit like HealTech.

Well, I put the fairings back on, but if my memory serves me (which at 54, is getting shaky) they're violet, green, and black.

That makes sense based on the three colored wires I can see, black, green, violet (faded purple, pinkish?). Although The bike still has it's speed sensor in place and I don't see a splice connecting the two. But away ways, thanks for your help.
