Quick question. What on earth is the fishing rod for?

Secondly how did they bypass the HISS module without the key?

Bend the frame with a hammer and just total it out. You'll come out better unless your insurance company is piss poor. Of course I would never do that.

Yeah, I hear you Moose - it's just that just desserts never seem to come around fast enough for that percentage of the population. All sorts of decent folks die, sometimes way too early, without ever having done anything really bad or wrong to anyone else while these cockroaches continue living on (e.g. being shot 17 times and not dying) - and not only living on but regularly victimizing productive members of the community and just being a cancer on society along the way. Also, every generation, these mopes are outreproducing responsible folks and we're continually being outnumbered by the criminal, stupid, irresponsible, immoral, etc.

Over at the other website, I posted "I'd say high probability that the fishing rod was used as burglary tool - mailboxes, reaching into cars or anywhere else through a thin gap, etc" Maybe "high probability" isn't really accurate, but if I were a betting man... :)

What you wrote would be funny except for the fact that about 2/3 of Californians, the idiot governor, and most of the powers that be actually feel that way about crime/criminals (they are pretty much running amok, let loose early with no supervision, etc). If you want to be frustrated, look up Prop 47, AB109, and Prop 57. Most of what you read probably won't reflect what is really happening here with crime/criminals.

Too many idiots here think the best way to reduce jail/prison overpopulation is to let them out and the best way to reduce crime is to make that particular activity no longer a crime or less of a crime. If that POS gets caught and does time at all, my guess is that he'll only do about 10% of what he is supposed to do...

Here is some of the more recent crap that has hit the fan here in CA - https://www.laadda.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Facts-About-Prop-57-Detailed-Analysis.pdf

Insurance called it complete loss and to my surprise actually offered me a fair settlement.

I was expecting a fight, and what I got was customer service. Imagine that. Anyways, hats off to Progressive Insurance. They treated me fairly.

Working like a dog lately, so it won't be real soon, but in the near future I'll be back on two wheels.

May not be a VFR though. I wasn't unhappy with the VFR, in fact, I really loved it. The 8th gen with some Bstone S21s can really punch above its weight in the twisties. But my motorcycle checklist is different from when I bought the VFR. My wife no longer rides with me. Babies must have the effect. Plus the promotion earlier this year requires I drive a car to work most days, so commuting duty is off the list. Weekend canyon carving is still on the list, so now all I have to do is find a great Canyon carver without luggage or a comfy pillion. Where will I ever find one of those?

That's great to hear Progressive treated you well! I might have to consider switching to them myself. Hmmm...given your current life situation and riding criteria I would initially recommend looking at the S1000RR, 675R, 636 and possibly the new CBR1000RR. Since you're working like a dog, for a reasonable consultation fee and expenses, I'd fly out to SoCal to test each of these bikes out on the Snake for you to give you my final recommendation :glee: Seriously though, have fun shopping!

If you ever make it to the Left Coast on two wheels, let me know. We'll hit some roads that'll make you forget all about the YouTube videos you see of the snake.

Awesome that would be great! I'm planning to haul my bike out there some time this summer - tentatively the last two weeks of June.

Do you recognize these roads near San Diego? RWT posted this vid just today - but he apparently filmed it quite a while ago. I'd like to find them and ride them when I get out there. Also, after watching RWT's crazy hooligan canyon fun vid I would also recommend adding the Multistrada 1200 to your shopping list - looks like a blast! Please don't tell NorcalBoy I recommended looking at a Ducati :glee:

Yep, East county. Highawy 94 (smuggler's run) and its intersecting roads.

It is fun. Will be hot in June.

    Also hot: Montezuma

Thanks! If it gets too hot I'll just have to ride even faster in my shorts and flip flops to stay cool - j/k :glee:

If you're coming out in June, let me know. I know almost all the roads that are worth mentioning out here. There are some that people rave about that I don't care for, but I know where they are. If you head up to the Snake, there are tons of great roads in the area plus the 33 out of Ojai is only 90 minutes north. It is epic. East, however, is the almighty ACH. ~53 miles of twisties to your hearts content.

I'm not as familiar with Northern California, but that is where it really gets good:

Really, no HISS? I opted not to put in a secondary ignition switch because I thought HISS had my back. Guess I'll have to do so.

Thanks for updating us regarding your insurance company, and their response to your claim.

If you take your time looking for a new ride, you may find someone who needs to sell you a bargain.
