It was all oem and backfiring before the upgrades, but only after my accident. I put a new own filter clean and all to fix it and it never did. I had innocent hopes that these upgrades would fix the mixture problem but had already planned on rejetting to something larger so figured just go with it now. I like the new pipe as well a lot.

If the problem only started after the bike was dropped, it is not caused by carb tuning or jetting or air filter configuration or what muffler you have on it. Somethng broke or got jarred out of adjustment. Go back to square one - the known baseline. Get it right from there before doing any mods.

    Cheers,
    Glenn

My bike is about as free flowing as it gets and my jets are smaller than stock. I'm running 98bhp at the rear wheel.

Don't assume bigger jets are needed, it's rarely the case.

Besides busting into the head or splitting the case I've replaced all oil seals and gaskets and bothsides of the engine. Tighten down exhaust and headers. Figured carb was the next place to go. Spent a good 500$ this week on all the proper tools and parts. Even new honda oem spark plugs since its recommended on a fresh carb rebuild. The servicing I'm doing is kind of a dual purpose. I had already planned attempting to increase the bikes preformance, so having to rebuild, I'm just going with the flow. If the new jets fail me, I'll of course re jet oem and see if it solves my issue. If it doesn't? Ill be going into the head for valve clearences. Half the fun is tinkering. If I get tired of it one day, ill sell my lot and buy a new gen bike with a warranty

I'm actually curious as to what you've done for that extra ~7hp at the wheel

Okey my VFRians. Rebuild resulted very well.

A filter sponge slightly disintegrated and made its way into my carb system. Was missing a vacuum cap from one cylinders. Jets had clear passages but had some grime.

All in all I'm happy with the results. All the backfiring is gone even when warming up the bike. More power. Immediate throttle response. No leaks. 150 miles into it and still very much loving it!
