Thanks Jeremy, I could tell by the way the bolts have a stop on them that they would be susceptible to breaking. I plan to also follow the advice of thx and purchase a set of 8 new seals. I had the motorcycle running today, it sounds good, and I have communicated with V4spark.com about having the igniter boxes rebuilt. I have always liked this motorcycle, but must be reasonable about continuing to spend money on it. Currently looking for a used CBR600RR in my price range.

I don't know if this is more procrastination or persistence.
Some of each I suppose. That bike needs to ride again. :vtr2:

Thanks Lee! :cool-new: I do ride it, we have had some crazy warm weather here, so I am already riding after work, and ride to church also.

Well I replaced the fan switch, and since it was nice and warm here today, I went out and rode for a couple hours. Hit some twisty back roads, and then did some cruising as the sun set. Everything seems good, had a great time.

Today I replaced the igniter modules with new units from v4spark.com. And the hand grips, I replaced those with some OURY Road Grips. Should be real nice.

So I have put about 1,400 miles on it since the resurrection, the effort and expense has been well worth it, both in terms of rewards and learning. It's good to be back on the horse.

Amidst the sea of nonsense and idiocy that pervades thousands of motorcycle BBs and FB pages, there are tiny gems like Surfer's tale that make it all worth it.

Fantastic. And on one of my favorite bikes ever.

Yep, ya did good. I had a 86 VF500F and it was a great bike. I was just too huge for it.

Just another little update, since I am now at 5,000 miles since the resurrection. Yes I have been riding pretty regularly, and it has been absolutely fantastic!

Anyway, the engine is running STRONG, but as it always has, consumes a bit of oil. Fuel mileage is really good (65mpg). I only run 93 octane ethanol free + SeaFoam.

I have worn out the BT45 rear tire, the transition of the dual compounds is rather pronounced, enough so that the handling is beginning to suffer. In a few days I am swapping it with a Pirelli Sport Demon, in stock size of course.

I have some new spark plugs, should probably install those, but was also thinking about checking the valve clearances and carburetor synchronization again.

Thanks again for the help and support everyone, hope you all are doing well.
