Today was spent flushing the coolant, cleaning the fairings, cleaning the kickstand area and cleaning/adjusting my chain. I also put on a new radiator cap. Nothing wrong with my old one, but after crashing in 2012 because one failed, in not taking any chances! I have a good ride coming up tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to getting done real seat time. Going out to the California Poppy Reserve. Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve State Natural Reserve

Been using the ProGrip 724s for a while. I'm happy with them. Look good and feel great, a touch thicker than stock and help with the vibes. Enough red in them to match the bike but not be garish, too.

Alas, I fucked one up a bit when I installed my Throttlemeister, so I'm going to replace them again pretty soon. Luckily they are cheap, but I'm torn between throwing on the 719s I have on hand (due to an error by Amazon, who just told me to keep them) or getting another set of 724s. I'm betting I can't feel a difference with a gloved hand, so maybe it's just vanity.

Have you compared ProGrip to Ariete? Which model do you have? Estoril?

Awe.. Since it turn out later to be decent enough, though been raining like crazy here this morning, so didn't think there was a chance, and whats ya know, the weather gods changed it up to being nice for a bit. So I dawned on some gear and went for a little jaunt, swung on by to say Hi to Mom too. Over all not a bad little outing. But dude, the roads are like trashed with debris, so no tom foolery and to add to it, it gets the Viffer dirty ;) still, it's great to hear and feel the Viffer do it's thing. I went on a 172 mile rode with some good friends today. Got to put my 5th through its paces after having done all the things above, coolant , rad cap, new rotors, cleaned and lubed the brake callipers, chain and bike in general. New battery recently, raised the forks to 50mm from top triple clamp, which adds so much to the shimmed shock, dropped the tire pressure front rear to 34/36 psi in anticipation of the ride I did today, with much twisties of various speeds. SUCH A HUGE ******* DIFFERENCE!!! Bike runs cooler, by a lot, cools down much quicker! Stops much better, turns fantastically! It just falls into turns now without effort or drama and when hanging off of it, it's a totally different bike, it's like an extension of my body now. Yeah, I think I'm a bit smitten with it. A few more things to double check, such as starter valves, vacuum lines, etc and throw a new chain kit on it and it's going to be ready for R3 and my big trip to Montana. Prolly throw new brake pads up front just before R3. EBC HH I think.

More info please? I need more stuff to worry about.

Washed the bike, cleaned and lubed the chain, and took it for about a 60 mile blast in glorious weather today.

Hey, did you do new rotors all around? I though I only read you mentioning the rear one dragging.

What'd you end up with, if you did?

How were the flowers? I did a short ride and a walk and the spring bloom is starting to go bonkers. Rumor has it Borrego is blooming, too. The poppy reserve should be pretty awesome this year, I'm guessing.

Haha, in August 12 I was turning and I don't know my cap was bad, simply because I didn't know how to recognize the symptoms. High temperature, coolant of of the reservoir bottle etc. Antifreeze on the rear tire =Wham...

$9 at Auto zone, bring in your old one, they'll match it. Super cheap insurance

Not very many flowers yet, maybe after the rain this week. I have pics on my phone. I'll post them.

The front rotors were replaced recently, warranty replacement from EBC. The rear will need to be replaced soon.

Went for a ride yesterday, braved the torrential wet weather, thought I'd attend a very very interesting auction of F1 Brabham race cars and other highly collectible items. It's amazing what people have in their sheds around here. In this case a million dollar automotive collection.

The risk of leaving my property was that I might not be able to return for a few days due to flooding. In the end I didn't get to the auction, the rain intensified over me and the storms were heading for my home. I turned around and headed for home riding through numerous long stretches of water over the road, that have since been flood declared. If I drove out in my 4WD I probably would have kept going, made the auction and be typing this from a motel room last night.

I'm disappointed I missed the auction, it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet "the man who built the fastest cars on the planet and seeing his life's work".

That sounds like more fun than changing radiator caps and cleaning brake pucks.

Hi moose moose, yeah grips are ariete estoril, the store didn't have progrip. Out of stock. I was looking for grips that would also better absorb rough road surface shock and vibration. They're a so much better than my old original grips!

I got invited to ride up to Newcombs Ranch this morning. There was a fund raiser for 'Best Friends Animal Society' and also for a fellow rider who was recently paralyzed after crashing at the track (Austin #559). Did a donation for his fund and had a good ride to add to it. Lots of bikes today, seems Ducati has a big following, a sea of Ducs today! Alas, I brought my 09 VFR!

Got the bike out for an unusually warm day. 74 degres in march in Utah and overcast. My perfect day to ride! loved it. Best riding for me is early spring and late autumn. Forces me to use the proper riding gear. Summer forces my mind to say that the jacket, gloves, helmet and other gear is optional. Stupid but true. Shorts and flip flops not included though. ;-)
