I remember that surgeons were very concerned after the passage of Cali's helmet law-

Due to the sudden shortage of organ donors...

LOL - you might like this ironic twist then RVFR!

I should have worn pants this morning cuz I was refused a test ride on a CanAm Spyder earlier today because I wasn't wearing pants :glee: What happened was after I finished lusting over the Schwinn trike at Sam's Club I stopped by my local Honda dealer for some chain lube - on my way out these CanAm people were setting up for a demo day and asked me if I wanted to try one out - I was like "hell ya - I love test rides!" but told them I didn't have any gear cuz I was driving my cage - they said no prob we got stuff you can use - so I filled out all their paperwork and watched their video and then the dude said "oh no, sorry you have to have pants!" :glee:

The good news is I went back in the afternoon armed with some long pants and my GoPro and was able to record my test ride which I'll post up later tonight :smile-new:

Can-am? Not interested. Never got the charm of those things. Even when I see the rare one on the roads I think "Man, that's fucking stupid!" almost reflexively. Probably just me, though.

And, just so you know, nobody gives a shit if you ride nekkid. You, personally. It's really the community proclaiming in its own way that this is remarkably against the bare minimum standards of safety the majority of us ascribe to our personal longevity. All the gear, all the time.

Whether riding jeans are good enough for a 35mph sprint on surface streets to the store is debatable, and whether you need a race suit or get by with a two piece textile, or an aerostitch, is likely a personal preference, but boots, good gloves, a riding jacket, and a good helmet are pretty much the minimum for anything other than pushing the bike out of the garage to wash it. Seriously, I'm headed to a store as soon as I post this, it's 2 miles away, and there's not a speed limit above 35 between here and there, but I just put my boots on. Almost zero effort and not scraping off your ankle bone when someone runs a red light and hits you is a solid plus. We've all been down or are going down at some point. That's how it works.

I'm totally anti helmet-law, though. The younger the aga at which stupid people die the less it costs to insure them. And their organs occasionally go to some poor sot who was born with a wonky heart or something. And I need someone in this world I can feel superior to and judgemental towards.

It was actually decent fun - not nearly as fun as two wheels but still fun - a totally different riding experience compared to a motorcycle. I thought the one I rode looked pretty cool - it was pearl white with orange tubular frame bits showing. I was very happy to get back on my Interceptor when I was done, but I'm glad I got a chance to test it. I wouldn't mind having one when I get too old for two wheels - would be much more entertaining than that Schwinn :witless:

There are also rumours that it was a 750 instead of a 900 despite what the stickers say. I'll try n find the article.

Bare minimum and ATGATT in the same context is an oxymoron.

Someday they'll be racing CanAms at racermeets if not now.

If due to some physical restriction the CanAms offer the ability to still ride. Age is another factor. Author Dave Hough has a CanAm. Dave is pushing 80.

If talking stupid, we could always talk aboot "those other" bikes..

Come to think about it, some of the states that rescinded the helmet law may have had help from insurers at the legislative level so they could raise rates across the board. I hope that's not the case or great leader doesn't read about it and decide to buy himself a new fed insurance commissioner.

I'm wondering about going to concerts to see rock and the like by groups and bands that were hot shit in the 1960s and 70s. The stage lights up and the kid with the long hair and bell bottoms. the Peter Max look, is now older than your mom and dad. Or that skinny lead singer now is bald, weighs 325 and has false teeth and fallen arches and has three great grandchildren at Harvard.

Like the shrinks say, "How does that make you feel".

Seems someone may have served their sentence for bestiality and has been freed from lock-up, or paroled from the phunny pharm.

That's a tricky question but I'd say it "depends" on everyone's own unique circumstances :glee:
