Hard to find the raw material. I have a dent to pull in my tank and think I might be able to make a wraparound pad so I dont have to paint it.

Dents show a certain authenticity to mileage that relate to time in the saddle. This is popular at bike nights and general creds..

If you're looking for DIY, any floor covering save for T&G oak that has to be nailed in, try a flooring place for chunks of whatever turns your crank. This could be anything from the now available multi-colored "AstroTurf" to faux Jackson Pollock tiles. A couple of strips of marine grade Velcro and you're good to go.

Although less protective but more stylish according to some, fake fur is in. The latest trend from HD is fake fur from big game animals.

One more that is just coming on the market and will become more popular in the very near future is the slip on "Trump Combover". All the flammable versions have been recalled and replaced.

    Ha Ha Ha

Someone knocked the bike over, no pride in crashing here.
Found some material but it was in England.

So. Someone has knocked over both of your bikes? You need to pay your friends more money.

What kind of tank cover are you interested in? A strap on thicker type or something more like the stick on pads. I am sure you can find mac tac type rolls of vinyl of varying designs and colours at your local building store. If it is the strap on type, your local fabric store should have padded vinyl.

You might also try a getting some Plasti Dip paint and paint several coats on the area of the tank you want to protect. You can get clear Plasti Dip. Easy to apply and easy to remove when it gets tattered or you don't like.

Thanks for the suggestions Randy. I didn't think of a strap on tank cover. Good Idea.

And no, same bike that was tipped over last year- the 700. I want to sell it.

Those covers look cool. Are both layers fuel proof or resistant to both ethanol and non ethanol gas?

I searched under tank bras and there's a ton of them but they're all bike specific.
Don't think I want to go that route anyway.

If I get vinyl, would carbon fiber be passe' ?

IMHO. Fake carbon fibre is more obvious than fake news. If it is just an obvious tank pad and there is no intention to make one think the part is actually carbon fibre, then the fake stuff has a place.
