I have a California bike and just got finished removing all the smog parts and carefully plugging/capping all the leftover vacuum ports.

I capped the large vent lines that run between the upper area of the carbs (on the plastic crossover tubes), however I read these may need to vent to atmosphere. Can anyone confirm what should be left open if anything? Thanks!

Thanks guys! Yes it's the big T fittings I'm referring to. I just got it restarted last night but have a bit of an unstable idle. Need to uncap these ports!

After looking at the pictures in your thread I see it is the carb bowl vents. I'll get these opened back up ASAP! Thanks!

That question pops up whenever someone isn't well-acquainted enough with carbs or hasn't read the service manual. Didn't trust what he previously read online, and needed confirmation on-line, here. :livid:

Well I have a good report I was able to uncap the carburetor vents and the bike started and ran great and idles great even with just a manual carb sync. It looks like my daily driver is back in business this has been the best bike I've owned and I'm happy that I'll be able to ride it for hopefully many more miles. thanks for the help!
