    Hi everyone,
I just bought a 2006 VFR 800 Interceptor. I want to change the shift pattern from standard to the inverted GP style (1up and 5 down). I am looking for a set of rear sets to switch the stock ones with in order to do this, or to find someone who could fabricate a set for me.
    Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry though, I have no idea if that GP shift conversion is even possible without some tranny rework. Never thought about it. Can i ask why you would like to change it to GP style?

I have been riding sport bikes and club racing since I was 19. Everyone of my bikes was changed to the inverted shifting pattern. Now, almost 20 years later I have gotten used to this way, and I like it better when compared to the standard style. Now with my VFR I have to pay more attention to my gear changes so as not to downshift when I want to upshift.

It is a simple fix-when your shift lever is not directly connected to the engine shaft coming out of the case. All you do is rotate that connection 180 degrees and call it a day. Unfortunately, the VFR shift lever IS directly connected. This means I will need to replace the rear sets with a pair that has a linkage that will connect to the shift shaft off the engine. I was hoping for a simple swap like with an old set of CBR 600F3 rear sets-since they had the linkage set up that would match up right if the mounting bolts would fit. I don't know if foot peg mounting bolts are a standard distance or if everyone are different. The new RR's won't work because their linkage is vertical now instead of horizontal.

This is how it was done on a 1993 750, using 929 pegs:

veefer800canuck could you measure the distance between the center of the holes for the mounting bolts for your rear sets? I would like to see if they would still fit my VFR. Thanks

They don't bolt on like other models do, they are located with the swingarm bolt, like so:
