Nice photos Riprocop. Is that a Nighthawk 650, or as i know it a CBX650? Believe it or not, our local police used these for a good number of years before moving on to BMWs.

Was in need of some storage gear, panniers and tank bag for a long ride I'm planning. Found this lot of items sold separetly, tank bag, panniers and seat bag, ranging between 50-59% off the prices I first noticed them at last week. They're all new for the grand sum of $73.

Yeah, melt like a snowballs chance in hell...
Bloody awful weather, 42.5 C today, another record breaking temp, tomorrow is still forecast to be 44 C. I reckon it'll be higher than forecast. Definitely no weather to be riding! So, went to a friends, talked about motorcycles and future rides, looked at a Honda CX online I'm considering buying for a resto project, in the A/C with even colder beer!

Nothing YET. After changing the oil in my Honda cage, the VFR will get leaned over in some fast "hybrid twisties". That's a cross between curves a too tight to be called sweepers and turns not quite tight enough to require technical twisty skill. These are the fun ones where then bike can be leaned over at higher speeds. Where I live, different routes have the whole mix between technical and true sweepers (not so fun turns). Fortunate to have the selection. :eek:nthego:

Stared at my 5 Gen wondering when the insurance adjuster is going to call me regarding the "total loss" settlement. Looked at my 6 Gen and saw how filthy it's gotten from riding in the rain and on partially wet and dirty roads! Tire change due real soon though as the wear markers are starting to touch pavement! Tires are in hand just need time to get it done. Between work and other obligations today, pretty sure it won't happen until tomorrow.

Finally got around to putting the wheels back on my poor bike. She has been sitting in the garage on blocks since I removed the wheels to install the new Michelin PR4's. I had also ordered some new brakes pads and was waiting for them to show up before putting the wheels back on the bike. The EBC HH brake pads showed up on Thursday and today was install day. I removed the calipers and cleaned them within an inch of their life (man, they were more filthy than I thought) and removed, cleaned and re-greased the caliper slide pins and the pad retaining pins. Put it all back together and re-installed the wheels. Once again she is a rolling chassis. YEAH!!!

I still have to replace the rear rotor and the rear brake pads with new ones but I'll have to wait until I bring the electric impact gun home from work so that I can get remove the rear axle nut.

Spring is one step closer and the bike is coming together again. LOL.

Over here when you have a total loss or rightoff, the insurance company then own the vehicle, then you get the payout but if you want to keep the vehicle you reach a cost buyback agreement. Does it work like that in the US?

I took my VFR1100ST out for a 400km run today, started in the dark at 5am and enjoyed the LED headlights which made easy work of the conditions. Unlike last week, I was prepared for some fog and cold, with a Pinlock visor on my Arai, and the protection of the ST's barn door fairing, and I had a really enjoyable run to Kawakawa Bay, Kaiaua then Kopu. I took a favourite motorcyclist's road up over the ranges to Tairua with the sun just rising and tinting the clouds a rosy pink. The early hour also guaranteed little or no traffic on this fast and sweeping and hilly road.

Stopped at the top of Pumpkin Hill for a spot of sight seeing out over the Pacific:
    [IMG][IMG]

About 50km north is the town of Whitianga where I stopped for breakfast besides the beach looking over Mercury Bay, a muesli bar and bottled water from the pannier, and a change to a tinted visor. Thinking that a helmet like a GT Air with an internal sunshade might be nice one day.
    [IMG][IMG]

From there, the road just gets better and better as you turn and cross back over the peninsular, with fantastic well surfaced roads and epic scenery looking out over beaches and bays. Last stop for the day was at the rest stop before the descent back into the Firth of Thames. Yes the conditions are just as nice as they look with no wind, dry roads, light traffic, and 20-odd degrees.

Hope my snow and ice-bound Northern friends enjoyed that! I sure did.

Made it back home by 1030 am in time for domestic duties. :lemo:

That's my understanding of how it works here too. The inspector came out and saw the bike and then the claims adjuster is supposed to let me know what the payout/buy back cost will be. The person in charge of getting me compensation for my gear has all the gear cost but I haven't received the final approval or check yet either. I hate having to wait as I really want to move forward as soon as I can.

I hope you get a good buyback price. Yeah the waiting, can sometimes go on for too long. Best wishes.

Got to show off Kansas by being a riding host to a friend from New Mexico. Rode the Kansas Flint Hills. Beautiful. In the 70s. Met some new ADV friends in the Prairie Chicken Capital of the World. Amazing big sky day. There are hills if you look closely enough. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT THEIR FIRST OFFER OF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH IT. You have rights if you feel it is too low. http://www.insurance.ca.gov/01-cons...rings/05-CCR/fair-claims-regs.cfm#settlements
Section 2695.7. Standards for Prompt, Fair and Equitable Settlements
    Paragraph g; subparagraph 1, 7, (iii)

You can file a complaint to the Insurance Commissioner if you feel it is too low.

Hey Amigo, just caught up on this thread and learned of your mishap. It really blows, but as everyone has said, thank goodness that you weren't seriously injured.
I was thinking that rather than repairing the wrecked 5th gen, it might me cool to transplant the engine and rear wheel from that bike into your 6th gen. Then you could sell your 6th gen engine and remaining bits from the 5th gen to make back some cash. You'd have a unique ride and some more space in your garage!
