Baby manatees!

Was able to see some baby manatees this morning at Blue Springs State Park - aren't they cute? This park is only about 30 miles from Daytona so anyone coming to Bike Week in Florida should check it out - I think the manatees stay in the springs through the month of March.

There's a pizza place on the corner of the main road that takes you to the Blue Springs park called Manatee Pizza - when I first saw their sign in the window I did a double-take cuz I thought they were selling pizza with manatee topping :witless:

 

You're welcome - that 70's era Cousteau video was kind of depressing - but things are much better for them now with all the laws and regulations protecting them - in fact I think they were taken off the endangered species list a few years ago.

 

They are on the menu at Mar-A-Lago.

A hole in one (no pun attended) and five K will get you baby Manatee on toast at a Great Leader hotel. All profits less expenses go to removing the Stature of Liberty and replacement for a gold plated effigy of Great Leader twice the height of that old broad with the funny hat and that skanky green color.

I live in Debary Florida around the corner from Blue spring. An amazing site to see.

Some tidbits I learned about Jacques Cousteau today that some of you might find semi-interesting:
1. His boat the Calypso was the inspiration for the John Denver song of the same name.
2. He got divorced after 53 years of marriage at age 80, got married again at 81 and had 2 more kids!
3. His son Phillipe, the bearded dude in the 1973 Manatee vid I posted above, died just a few years later at only 39 in a seaplane crash. His wife had a son Phillipe Jr., 6 months after he died and he also had a daughter, Alexandra, who learned to scuba dive at age 7 from grandpa Jacques and she is pretty hot, see vid:
