The 750F I am working on restoring has an OEM Ignition switch and although the bike came with No Bodywork--THOUGHT--I just needed a Gas Cap lock. Turns out by chance when I try the ignition key in the Helmet lock it DOES NOT WORK. So rather than just needing a Gas Cap I also need a key for the Helmet / seat lock. Best guess is the previous owner changed out the ignition switch and I only ended up with a single key--No helmet lock key. SOOooo is there anyone that has a parts bike with all three parts with matching key that would be willing to sell the complete lock set ?? (add posted in classified). NLA from Honda and if it was would likely be priced in the stratosphere. Thank you
Don't know about the 86's, by my '83 gas cap was all one unit, couldn't even change the gasket (I did see that other models had replaceable gaskets). The cap would be the expensive part to replace. Look on your helmet lock and see if there any numbers like B16 or C74, maybe that would help a locksmith make some keys. If they could make a key off the helmet lock or seat lock, good chance that would work in the gas cap. I have ended up with one key for the ignition and one for the others. Edit: There are people who can do this for you! https://www.automotivelocksmiths.com/making-keys-to-motorcycles/ Like I said if they can make the helmet or seat key, then you have your gas cap (hopefully) if not, they can do that too.
UNFortunately MY dealer has ruined theirs so it doesn't accurately reproduce a key. Appreciate the insight and efforts.
