I found a really good Honda article on all the differences between 98/99 and 00/01
It was done as a press release to explain the changes and makes very good reading but I can't upload the PDF file as the site tells me it's too big.
Anyone know how I can post this?

One method is to upload the file to a Dropbox account, and then just post a link in this forum.

That's a fun read, I didn't know about the HISS system. I'd like to find out more about the ignition mapping they talked about. Good find.

I found a site with several of those press releases (sorry, don't remember the URL), so I downloaded the '98 and '99 ones as well. I've got tons of stuff, collected over 20 years, so let's see if the Dropbox thing works...

    1998: https://www.dropbox.com/s/expdr2lywp8ezrr/Honda%20VFR800FiW%20Press%20Information.pdf?dl=0

    1999: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipm3g54zyqxkvgb/Honda%20VFR800FiX%20Press%20Information.PDF?dl=0

There's nothing much in the '99 Press Information, but the '98 is as extensive as the '00. These are the European Press Releases, so things like nomenclature and colours are different from US models. Please let me know if the links work.

    Ciao,

Them links work. I was a while back interested in the ECU thing as I know JDM cars got the goods vs. state side, so figured maybe the VFR did too, from what I gather its not worth the headache, then that read did say there's a difference. hmmm??
