I have checked my fluids to see if that could be the problem, but I'm guessing it's just the 100-110 degree weather that's creating issues. It's especially bad in town, but is there anything I can do to keep my engine cool? I hate that it's hard for me to ride with the extreme heat. 1989 Kawasaki EX500
Dude. If it's over 100 out, there is no avoiding a hot running bike whether it's air or liquid cooled. My VFR about cooks me when in city traffic. It's slightly better on the highway (as far as the bike running cooler), but it is like riding through a blast furnace here in Southern AZ. Back in June, it was a 112 and my bike got up to 240 degrees when riding through the city! I thought I was going to have to pull over.
Well it sure heats up. I took it out today to search for some twisty roads, and it was a whole lot cooler than it has been. It just rained yesterday, and everything was dry, but it was even cool enough that it didn't feel hot wearing my jacket. No luck on the twisty roads though. I'll find some eventually.
Have you tried flushing the cooling system and replacing the thermostat? What coolant you using? Be sure to use nothing but distilled water in the cooling system to prevent mineral deposits from clogging it up. Maybe try adding Water Wetter to help increase cooling capacity. Or a non-water based coolant.
