I'm about to take a short trip and saw a thread some time ago about how to temp fix the RR on the road "if" it goes out.
Can anyone direct me to that thread or offer advice?

    Thanks

I've heard that you can pull all of the non-essential fuses (headlight, etc.) and get it going that way...

...can't give any proof that this actually works, or that it does not damage anything else, but I guess the idea is that all of your juice is going to keeping the engine running...

had one go out yrs ago a long way from home....bought a cheaPO LAwn tractor battery , cheap charger and some cable.hooked it up to the old battery....charged them up every nite, put the battery in the bag on the back..ran it as a total loss system(disconected headlight) and it ran all day on a charge no problem..got me home a week later..

would do it again before I stopped my trips! hope never to tho..cant use too many lawbn tractor batteries y'know! :)

Dennis kirk has some universal types that you could make into an emergency spare. My dad had a problem with his and decided he had enough. he is an electrician and got rid of the wiring connectors and instead used a screw block terminal to connect the wires. He hasn't had a problem since....

Having a voltmeter would be essential. If the r/r is undercharging, you can reduce the electrical load or turn on/add stuff if it's overcharging.

I love the idea of the lawn tractor battery/total loss system. LOL.
