Hi, I am the proud owner of a VFR800 2004 and have just registered with VFR World. I bought this brand new and have just clocked up 42,000kms. I like to ride. My husband and I are endeavouring to ride over all of Australia!! I have been reading quotes on front knocking noises. I have just recently noticed what initially sounded like a loose chain/knocking metallic noise from the front of the engine. Mostly noticeable at low speeds especially when decelerating to say stop at the lights. Also it is noticeable when idling. Anybody else have the same problem and what was the outcome??? Thanks Red Rabbit
Hey Rabbit! Welcome! I do not have a 6th gen, however, maybe someone else could answer your question who has experienced the same thing. I guess worst case would be your cam chain/cam chain tensioner.
If you're on the brakes and hitting bumps at low speeds (approaching a light), sometimes you can hear the movement of the "secondary master cylinder" interlocked brake unit on the left lower fork.
Knocking noise - fixed Since my last note on 23 August 2007 I have had my VFR's knocking noise fixed. Apparently I had a faulty front cam chain adjuster. Since I have had it replaced the noise seems to have gone. Mind you for lots of reasons I have not been able to get out on my bike as much as I like. Went for a long ride through the hills on Sunday, just gone. Couldn't hear any noises so I am feeling pretty happy. Safe riding to you all and stay upright. Linda
