    Hi all
    Please help
Just got the bike back together and runs really well.
However I have a connector that I think is the neutral switch.
I have touched it to the ground so the bike will start
But I can find out where it is located.
Can't believe this is causing me such an issue
Can anyone help with the location
    Many thanks
    Chris

On my 83 750 switch is on left side, right above transmission, connector is just past relay and r/r, if that is any help.

Here is a couple thousand words, first, the switch
Then the other end of the wire:

Should be similar on the 500.

Not sure what you mean "I have touched it to the ground so the bike will start"??
My VF500 doesn't do this. Starter will turn the engine if the engine is in neutral or not.
There's no switch at the clutch lever like modern stuff has.

That looks like it, sorry I mislead you with the 750 info, I guess the 500s are not a scaled down 750!

As per the two pics above posted by BluemoonerUK, same on most Honda's I've had the neutral switch is located to the rear of the clutch cover near the swingarm. It is attached to the end of the gearbox.

Where does the other end go to? I have just taken a VF500F engine out of a frame and I don't recall that connector
