I ran a Shorai on my Polaris atv for a short time. Never again! It did not fair well at all. Probably ok on a motorcycle but not for applications that need good current for more than a few seconds. (As in winch operation.) As soon as voltage drops a few volts you are quickly doing irreparable damage to the battery.

I don't remember. I replaced it with a Chrome battery.

If you buy the Shorai, I don't recommend buying the charger from them at $83. it is a pretty flimsy setup and the cabling is awkward and fragile in appearance. It may also be difficult to charge the battery in the bike, as it doesn't use clips or a lead connected to the posts and must be plugged directly into the connector on the battery, which might be covered in your application. If this connector is covered in your application, the battery will have to be removed for charging or storage charging.

Also, selecting the proper charge or storage setting for the charger is a combination of two flashing lights and beeps....too involved compared to just plugging in a lead and and plugging in the charger and away ya go.

I recommend getting one of the Noco chargers instead....$75.95, and certainly more robust than the Shorai charger and it will charge lead acid, agm, or lithium batteries. https://no.co/g3500 This charger will charge batteries up to 120 Ah and the LFX18A1-BS12 is rated at 6 Ah.....it's hard to find this number, but it is located on a sticker on the bottom of the battery. They have a 7200 that will charge up to 240 Ah batteries and it is $129.00.

Update: 3500 is available on Amazon for $44.98

DA, do you think I should proactively replace my battery in my '14 this next summer? I got it this past summer but it sat around for over 2 years as it was manufactured in April of 2014. So the battery will be 3 years old but with only 1 year of use. Do the bikes ship from the Honda factory with a battery or does the dealer just install a new one when it finally sells?

If you suspect an issue, just get it load tested. I had a Yuasa stock battery in my 06 for over 7 years until it finally tested bad and had to be replaced. Me personally, I wouldn't just swap it out without a need. A good maintenance charger like a CTEK or NOCO will keep a lead acid battery in good shape for a long time.
