Anybody here installed auxiliary lights to their Gen 8 Interceptor? Thanks for your time.

Nope. Think lights are fine as they are at present the only bit I don't like is the spread as you go into bends because they are a flat beam but you get used to that.

Much of the lighting that is added to bikes is sort of universal with brackets, wiring, and connectors in the package. This from some simple hookups to some of the lights used on endurance runs.

Try Google with a couple of key operators like "motorcycle" and "lighting".

I've added a light but I'm not sure if it counts as an "auxiliary" light - that's a fancy word for me :witless: I've got a half dozen of these Bontrager lights - 2 on my mountain bike and another one for each of my family members' bicycles and they all work great. If I wanted to I think I could fit 3 of them on each of my VFR's mirror stalks - set them all to high beam and have lights out the wahzoo - lol

I would be interested in seeing something that extends my vision in the dark (as in Black dark) as opposed to something that adds light to what I can already see at 60 mph or above how do those lights compare at those speeds?

A lot of stuff out there says it will do the job but does it infact do so. I believe Cree lights would make a difference but by gum they are ugly.

Hey Fink, I only use this light in flashing mode on my VFR to aid visibility against cagers. But I do use 2 of them on my mountain bike and I like to ride at night when it's not too hot. In that application I do use them on high beam mode to see where I'm going but of course I'm going nowhere near 60 - lol. However, I'm thinking they might be good enough to help fill in the midrange dark spot on our VFR's LED light pattern if I were to put one on each mirror stalk and set them to high beam mode. But I don't think they're powerful enough to extend your vision beyond what we already have. I'll do an experiment and see, however, the Ion 35 lights I have are the least powerful and cheapest ones in the Bontrager lineup:

Lumen is a measurement of light ie brighter = more lumens. Roughly, a standard 100W bulb = about 1600 lumens.

Wattage is what it takes to produce lumens or the light available to the human eye. Google: "What is a lumen" for more. Or buy a 350 peso light meter and run around showing all the dudes at bike night that they have lumens. This should not be done at harleydood functions since they are sensitive to sizes of things and tend to get rowdy on who has the most or the largest of something.

Give this a shot for specific MC extra lights:

Lumens are also currency in Botswana. They are not worth much so they burn them at night.

Let's see if I can attach pics. I got a couple single led pods and mounted where the reflectors go on the forks. $20 on Amazon. Less for lighting the road, more for being seen. To that end, I also used some yellow signal tape over the lenses, to stand out.

    Hi RC30Dreamer,

The OEM lights are pretty good and with the position lights in the mirrors the bike is pretty visible head on too, but there's certainly a bit of an issue with the spread of the lights as you lean into tighter corners on unlit roads. What the bike really needs are some driving lights to fill in that area and there are some good options out there from people like Clearwater and the Denali range from Revzilla. I don't really see the need for more light on the Gen 8 though, just need it positioned better and I think what it actually needs are some cornering lights activated by a tilt switch. While some manufacturers offer these on their more blinged up models, there doesn't appear to be anything available aftermarket. I had a chat with my son (handy having a sparky in the family) and he reckons that there are plenty of tilt switches available as components, so it should be easy enough to rig something up with standard LED lights, perhaps mounted on the fork either side but wired separately so that only the side you need turns on.

If we come up with something useful I'll post it up.

Yep, after doing some research I put a set of Clearwater Darla LED lights on mine. They make HUGE difference and absolutely love them! Definitely not an inexpensive endeavor but when riding in the dark and rain I figure they are much cheaper than an ER visit. They feature a dual output which means low beams means the aux lights go to an adjustable maximum 75% of the 2000 lumen output, and high beams are automatically bumped up to 100%. I would totally recommend them if you are looking for some more light!
