Need Advice! Installed new battery---fully charged---Turned on key switch--- Nothing happened everything is dead. All fusses ok. next, with the key switch off I disconnected the negative battery terminal and linked a multimeter between the negative battery terminal and the bike negative connector... Voltage with the key switch off is 2.0. Voltage with the key switch on is 12.8. ...that is it so far...Thought I would ask for advice before tearing into the electrical system...

Voltage readings are to be taken in parallel, not series with the circuit. Just connect the meter across the connected battery terminals.

If you're not getting any power, check the main fuse and the main battery leads, the ground and starter relay.
