All the Harley riders say " loud pipes save lives". Maybe they should just wear helmets instead. Besides, how many times do you see a bike get hit from behind, which is where the most noise comes from, maybe they should have forward facing exhaust pipes. I don't ever remember seeing an ambulance with a rear facing siren.

Man I am from Wisconsin and some of the bikes could blow your ear drums out. I am really pissed because I used to get harassed by cops for turbo mufflers on my GTO and yet because these things are built here how can they say NO to them as far as sound. If this ever ends up in court here in WI we are looking at a Sh___Storm

As far as helmet laws I have NO PROBLEM at all with any rider who doesn't care about his/her health. That is THEIR BUSINESS. Were it becomes my business is when I ending up paying, through my insurance company/ or taxes for all the brain dead riders who get major head injuries and fall on any support system to stay living or to support them for the rest of the lives because they are brain damaged. Thats not rumor that is fact that any insurance company could give you numbers on.

Ok...I am almost afraid to put in my two cents here (fear of being flamed to death) but I like the sound of the straight pipes AS WELL AS the sound of my VFR. I test rode a Bouget the other day and fell in love with the tune of the pipes. Now I should say that I think I am a fairly courtious rider and dont blip throttles or go roaring down housing developement streets, but on the highways and interstates and such.....yes...I like the noise. YEP... I called it noise too!! but noise also comes from kids and their souped up civics and supras with a 3" straight exhaust thru a Can with barely any baffles. Or how about the 454 thru glass pacs? We all love a different tune. unfortunately not everyone i cares for the public when listening to that tune.

P.S. I was reading on the ABATE website where the first person to recieve that noise ticket got it dropped as no officers have the $1000+ equipment to enforce the law.

I should also mention that I am a former kid with a souped up supra with the 3" exhaust and no catalatic converters and I got plenty of nasty looks for that thing too!! (still own it and another but am looking to sell them as they got hard to get in and out of as I got older)

I say leave people alone and let them make up their own minds. This nanny state shit is what bothers me. We are children that can't handle our toys and need watching or gouging because of it.
