Since I am going to South Texas I thought I would do the PMs. I got a new front tire (PR3) and I changed the oil.

I noticed that the coolant was down in the tank and so I started to look around and I found a small drip under the water pump. I traced it back and found a weeping hose. I tightened that up but I still had the drip. I removed the pump plate and installed a new rubber seal. I topped up the coolant and fired it up and yes, I still have the one small tiny drip!!! Grrrrrrrr. I guess I am going to run a small bead of silicon sealer outboard of the seal and see if that helps.

    Addendum:

After repeated attempts to get my head under the bike, and to hold it far enough back so that my ancient eyes could focus, in a effort to find the head waters of the Nile, I fastened on a plan. I used my phone to snap pictures of the offending area. It is clear now that the water pump seal and not the gasket that is leaking. The water pump is not rebuildable, according to Honda, so I ordered a new one.

Is this like when a Harley salesman approaches from in front or behind?

This week the reason for my poor fuel economy on my VFR was known. I've been using my wifes CBR 400 (NC29) for the last week as my daily commute. The last tank I got the 'respectable' 93 miles to 15 litres.. My wife didn't find it as funny as I did - lol

So yes I'm the reason for my bikes poor gas mileage - :smile-new:

Just thought I'd update you, D.

The pic below shows my S21s with just over 2k miles. I'd get around 2,800 on PP3s. [IMG]

Thanks. My first run with them was a few weeks ago in Malibu and for sure the feel and grip was great. We'll find out on Sunday how they work at the track!

If I can get at least 3k miles out of them, I think I'll be happy. For less than $200 I'd say that's a bargain. Even better once I got the $50 gift card.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts after a track day. I've pushed them pretty hard on the street, but a track day report would be great.

Nothing yet. Going to let the air temp. warm up a bit, eat breakfast, then go finish off the front and rear tires. Since this is their last run, they will probably get beaten up pretty badly and I will just enjoy the mountains and countryside. A cold front moved through the southeast last night so off I go in beautiful fall weather terrorizing the quiet mountains and countryside....again. :eagerness:

Booyah! Finally got the B1tGh up and running with everything working. Last thing i had to do was clean some contacts with a cleaner to get the brake lights working. Didn't check the tire psi before riding (sitting for almost 3 weeks?) so not sure whether it was my awe inspiring lack of skill or that but felt a little skittish. Either way it sure was great riding again even if it was just around town.

I will only get better for ya RVFR. A mind blowing ride awaits you.....:smile-new:

Today, nothing for the VFR. It sits all cleaned up with an old sheet over it in the garage with new oil in it. Yesterday, I beat up the tires on their last run which was fun. They hardly showed any more wear but they're essentially gone. Having a new set unmounted in the basement, I decided to mount them before the next outting. Better safe than sorry. New tires feel so good in the handling dept. They will be the ones that take me to N. Ga. and Western NC in March to ride my favorite haunts. There's always a warm enough weekend with good weather in March when NOBODY is riding around there. :peaceful:
