Not yet. Thanks for the link. I had that option in mind. I just haven't gotten around to do. I start projects I don't complete. I need to reduce my motorcycle fleet and concentrate on a few bikes.

Watched my 6 Gen sit in the parking lot waiting to be ridden home...alas, not happening today. Had to stay one more day! The arena is prepping today for a WWF event and it's crazy here at the job site.

D just think of all the $$ your making for your three sons in the garage.
Plus no traffic hopefully tomorrow on the ride home.

Installed the Heli-bars this morning. Next to my custom seat, 'tis the best mod I ever did, coming back from a quick 3 hours ride. Since the OEM dampers were dried out, I ordered a set of Vibranators. We'll see how well they perform this week.

So I changed my oil last month and had 1 left over K&N filter that I took a chance on ( I know probably not the smartest choice but it was there and already paid for, a left over from a track day on the CBR) and installed it on the VFR. I paid extra attention during install and checked it every ride. Seemed to be doing fine. I had already did a lot of research on Scotts and PC racing reusable filters and decided I was going to give it a try. I went with the PC racing as they have a bunch of heat sync fins on them and if I use it on the track bike it has a predrilled hole for safety wiring. By the way the Scotts and PC are almost exactly the same and use the same supplier for the actual filter membrane. I have taken the VFR on 2 rides that I know very well and it seems to be running 2 degrees cooler, i guess from the heat sync fins. The K&N I removed had a crease in the O ring, looks very close to leaking. The photos I posted in other K&N threads about the difference in diameter of the K&N compared to an OEM filter I think it the cause of O ring pinch and creases. Totally unacceptable. Here is a photo of it.

That's pretty cool, a lot like how most modern cars use paper cartridge filters so you can inspect the element for metal filings. Looks like it uses a proprietary filter made of stainless and aluminum. That kinda sucks, I would much rater have an $8 throw-away part inside.

This can be done. All that is needed is a K&N filter, a hacksaw and a bike ya don't give a shit aboot.

you don't need a replaceable part, just clean the stainless filter. Very quick and easy.

I think that the Scotts and PC racing are very well built and will last a very long time. I was a little concerned about micron size vs paper but after some research I found that the stainless actually is much better in filtering and flow. The main difference between the Scott and PC was that the Scott has a stronger magnet in it and the PC has the cooling fins and drilled nut. Either does the same filtering. I don't mind cleaning the filter and will enjou the savings. I got the PC because of the drilled nut for the CBR and track days and the cooling fins for the VFR. And I got the PC Racing for $85 shipped on Amazon. The Scotts was 139.00

Hmmm, just might have to look further into this oil filter, no oil change needed in the near future, but for nothing else why not. Now to find a deal on em and in a black anodizing please. For me and the viffer, I can't ride for a while, so my son took both the VFR and the CBR out for a bit while the weather was decent, been somewhat lousy here the last few days, gota keep em fresh right.

Cleaning the filter is easy. I use dish detergent and hot water. Good deal on the PC for 85 pesos. Are Honda filters really 15 pesos a pop now?

The guy on the vid didn't recommend using gas I think because of the low flash point or maybe degradation of that square shaped seal.

I think for RVFR anodized black may be a little hard to come by. They have pink ones for Harleys..

After living on it all weekend, absolutely nothing was done with it today. It has an oil change coming up before the next ride. This time, I will take the radiator brace off before taking the filter out. It can be done on an 8th gen. without taking the brace off but it's too much of a trick. I seem to be the only person that has been able to do it. Prolly quicker to just take the brace off. It needs a quick wax job too. That will get me a couple mph......

A new record is already set on the rear tire. Bridgestone BT023 with 3700 brutal miles on it is a record for me. The tire everyone loves to say doesn't last long has done just that. I'm a PR2, 2000 mile person....as in no tread left on either side. I've beat up this Stone unmercifully and it still is just off the wear bumps. I have another brand new set of the same in the basement. Check the price on them. They out handle PR2's for me. No brainer. I love EVO's because I don't need to pay extra for them to get performance and that tire lowered the price of 023's....love it!!
