Recoating the inside was a good idea.. The bike before the mishap looked great. The crease/dent was really bad. Great shop that did the work.

I called them a body shop but they are not really. They are full on motorcycle restorers. The guy that panel beat the tank is definitely highly skilled.

This shows on their main page with a very nice BSA Bantam. There are some really great restoration shops . Many of the same type shops network for parts and sometimes even make small items like screws.

A few well done restorations from the VME display at the CW shows. The specific bikes in the club display have yellow signage in the pic or some without a sign showing are on a raised dias. Many of these same bikes can be seen running at the yearly "Isle of Vashon TT". 35 years and still counting.

The paint and blast media used to get the old paint off was GBP175+VAT.
It was around the price of that new tank, yes.
Getting the white line on in the right place was not easy, apparently.

    Hi Chris,
If the tank doesn't need lining then approx £550 to£650 depending on the repairs required. All plus VAT

I got another quote off another outfit when I was seeing if I could get it repaired and they were a bit cheaper.

Can't vouch for them as I ended up not using them, obviously, but they did get back to me.
Steve did say he was fed up doing petrol tanks, and they are not short of work so maybe he just doesn't want to do it.

It was GBP175+vat just for the materials. Labour was on top. Labour was by far the biggest part of the bill.
