Hey guys. Thought I'll join and say hello from sunny South Africa as i just picked up an 07 800 with 8600 km on the clock.

Drained the oil and refreshed her with some new castrol 10w40, also installed a new oil filter and bought a new clutch lever. The old man I bought it from accidently dropped the bike on its left side when he climbed off after a ride. No major damage just a few scratches.

My second VFR in my life. When I was younger I had the NC30 way back in the day.

Have many questions about the bike but hoing to bed now as it is quite late here already.

    Have a good night gents/ladies :)

Catch you on the flip side.

As promised. Some photos of her in the garage. Will get some more tomorrow when it's outside.

So 1 of a few questions: what's the optimal temp of this bike after a 30 to 45 min ride in and out of traffic?

Reason for this question is that the fan comes on when the bike reaches 90odd degrees Celsius. Don't know what that is in US farenheit.

Nice! Ride her hard and put her away wet!!!

As for the fan ... mine kicks in around 105*C and shuts off around 98*C. She's a 2002 .. a 6th Gen as well.

OOO Candy apple red... Nice, welcome to the insane asylum, you did good with the photos. On my US model, I hear the fan come on around 211-214 which should be around the 100c. mark IIRC. doesn't sound of my much, if.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. Ahh so you call it candy apple red. Nice.

Thinking about it now mine come on at about 95° Celsius. So traveling in warm weather should keep it on most of the time?

Mine fluctuates between 95-105*C on average in high 20s weather in traffic.

On the highway it ranges from high 80s to low 90s.

Yes exactly like mine. So sounds good. Just really wanted to check if the temps are good.

So what else must I have a look at seeing that this bike wasn't ridden much?

Check the electrical / charging system.

Do "The Drill" if you haven't already. Search for it here on the forums.

    Happy Riding!!

Other than what Jeff threw up, as thats seems to be the biggest achilles heel of the VFR. that and folks that use KN oil filters "DON"T" there's just basic motorcycle stuff, clutch & brake fluid, chain sprocket, of coarse tires pressure, you know all that normal stuff ., enjoy.

Welcome, she's a beauty, enjoy and you'll get all the answers here when needed-- don't mind a FEW asshats here, all in fun.
Plus maybe a coolant flush is in the future maintenance.
