Well, at least for most of us we know the tank won't get rusty.

Does this mean there won't be a lesser expensive non-SP version for '17? It sounds like they're all gonna be either SP or SP2, so the price of the base model will probably go up quite a bit :(

After some of Honda's offerings lately, I think this is step in the right direction.

I just hope they start making the 600 again. They said they stopped it because their sales were so bad, but the trtuth is everyone else has killed it with their 600 class bikes and honda had slipped because theirs sucked. Dump the tech from this one into a new 600rr and I'm sure it would do well.

It's on Honda's USA website now too:

    http://powersports.honda.com/2017/cbr1000rr.aspx

On the first pic it says in small print that the "estimated MSRP" is under $20,000 for the SP and under $25,000 for the SP2.

The color of those wheels are sort of similar to the 8th gen, no?

"As previously stated, this is the first Honda four-pot to use ride-by-wire and the Big H has taken tricknology from the RC213V-S by furnishing the new Fireblade with an Acceleration Position Sensor (APS) that converts throttle tube movement into a signal sent to the ECU. Posh ride-by-wire in essence."

Isn't the vfr1200 throttle by wire?

Is this author totally unaware of the upcoming v4 super bike? lol

They are saying the SP is the standard version in the literature. The SP2 is the homologation special. I wonder what the optional race kit adds......

Yeah, it was a damn good bike... ten years ago. You would think Honda is going broke the way they're treating their bikes.

The new 'Blade looks like it will finally bring the bike up to par with the competition, but only just. If Honda sits around watching the competition advance for ten years again while they design new headlights, they'll be back in the same spot pretty soon. Hope Nicky can get another championship on it before he hangs it up.

Maybe Honda will bring one to the AIMExpo in Orlando for us to demo - lol - it's only 10 days away.

    I wouldn't complain having this for a 2nd ride.
    I'm pleased...and drooling.
It will be interesting to see how this moto takes off here with the general public.
