Although I'm a new 2014 VFR owner, I want to make a couple of mods, one for comfort and one just because I like the "look."

Just ordered a .95 riser from Rob for comfort and trying to decide between 2 DELKEVIC Carbon stubbies.
The round 14 " with the straight tip or the oval carbon stubby with bent tip.

I really like the straight round one as I like the aesthetics better for the VFR.

Besides the look what is the difference in sound, etc? I don't want a "brappy" sound but would like a "mellow"rumble.
If these are too loud for steady highway, I'll even consider the 17" Stainless Tri Oval.

Anyone have experience with either of these? What are your observations?

Nelix just got the oval carbon stubby - see his recent threads in 8th gen section if you haven't already. I think it's just a matter of personal taste as to whether you prefer the oval with turned down tip or the round with the larger staight tip - I think they both look great (I have the round carbon but on the mini model instead of the stubby model).

I don't know if there's any significant difference in sound between the two tips. I did test ride a used '14 several months ago that had a mini carbon oval with bent tip and while I remember it sounded great I don't think it was as loud as my round version but I suspect it probably had the baffle in when I tested it. I've never even tried my round with the baffle, I've always had it out, so it's hard for me to really compare. I think you'll be very happy with either one.

There really is no difference between the round and oval in the same 14" length, besides looks. I'm pretty sure they will sound the same. Go with the style that you find most attractive, and you'll be happy.

From what I've deduced, the shorter the silencer, the louder it is. I could certainly be wrong about that.
So far I really like the 14" round straight tip.
Since I live in a very hot summer area( we had a record number of days above 90degrees this year) and many many summer days between 95-99.

I love the carbon look but I've seen pics of some melting. DELKEVIC has a 12 month guarantee so if it's going to happen I suppose one year will show it.

I just can't see spending the money for Two Bros or Akrapovic. In fact I don't like how they look.

I'm not concerned about which produces more horsepower.

I'm confused then. On your installation thread I thought it said Stubby.
The description that I read as I understood it said the 14" Stubby was road legal in Britain.
I don't see the Shorty listed on their website. Must have overlooked it.

Nelix, I thought you did get the stubby? Maybe they use different terminolgy in UK? In US the "stubby" is the 14" version and the "mini" is the 8" version of dubious road legality - lol. Then there's the longer 18" version too. I'm so confused lol.

Oops, yes I did get the stubby lol. Wanted the shorter one but it's not road legal.
