    Hello All,

I've been riding a while now, 1987 to present. My bikes have included other Hondas, Ducati, BMW & Suzuki, but never a VFR. I've got a very good deal lined up and ready to go on a 2004 VFR ABS for $7,999 plus tax. This bike has never been preped and has zero miles on it. Q. Are there any compelling reasons to buy an '07 over the '04? Buying this bike would save me about $2,700.

    and...

This is a big bike, 580ish wet. Does it feel that big?

    Thanks in Advance

    ABS should be really nice

I'm not sure but I think Honda smoothed out the Vtec between 2004 and now. The ABS really makes it a good deal though. I'm about to a new '06 and it seems that if your willing to travel, you can get much better deals than with the typical local dealership. In my area, the dealers would only take off about $250 and not negotiate on the hardcase luggage. So I'm going to travel about 8 hrs. ea. way but it's worth it. Good luck on your new bike.

wow sounds like a great deal! strange to find a 04 with no miles. imo i would save the money very little difference from 04to 07 other than a few cosmetic changes, the only mechanical difference is in 06 and up vtec kicks in about 400rpm sooner.
sounds like you have had a few bikes you should be fine with the weight of the viffer, its really not that big its still considered a middle weight
    enjoy your new bike!

According to the manual the VTEC kicks in officially at least at 6800rpm , and this has has never varied since day one (least on euro spec machines). If i'm wrong on this then i apologise in advance. The one thing that has changed since the earlier versions is the injection mapping, making the ride much smoother and getting rid of a few flatspots that were there on the earlier models. I went from an '02 to an '07 and you really notice the difference between the two.

As to weight etc, no problems as long as your feet touch the ground. You've had various bikes so you shouldn't have any problems. Learn where the switches are on the dash etc BEFORE you ride off lol, and take it easy for the first few miles. Sounds like you're getting a bargain if you ask me.

The bike feels much lighter when you start going than when you rock it in the dealership. You'd still get a year of warranty if it is sold as new? if so, you're good to go IMHO. If you aren't confident that it is a good enough deal, you can ask for a deep discount on the new helmet that matches the bike, or the hard cases. - Good luck

Well, it's done. Drove all day and night yesterday to pick up my new 06. That V4 sound is just beautiful. Don't want to plug to much, but I can't say enough about Sindt Motors of Iowa. Overall, they saved me a lot and were very helpful. Amshooter, did you end up getting your 04?

I just picked up my new 06 non abs two days ago for $7999.00 St Johns Honda thru in a 3 year extended warranty, (not that I'll need it, its a Honda) and cut me some slack on the Hard Luggage, ($750.00) installed.

Like you, I'm getting addicted to that wonderful V4 sound, much like a small block V8, and very much unlike the sportbikes I have owned in the past, that sounded like a lawnmower engine at 20,000 rpm,,,,,,

Cycle World just compared the VFR to a BMW and they mentioned that the VTEC kicks in at 6500rpm, I haven't had my bike over 6 grand yet so I can't confirm that.

    Congrats and stay safe.

    Steve
