    Hey guys -

This is a great forum. I just recently bought my first VFR, an 87 700. It has a healthy 62k miles on it but is running nice and smooth. I'm getting ready for a cross-country ride soon and am wondering if there are 'VFR specific' maintenance issues I should be aware of for a high mileage VFR like this, outside the regular maintenance schedule? Does anyone have distance touring experience on a 2nd gen bike, and if so did you encounter any unusual problems? I'm confident in Hondas but can't hurt to ask

Thanks, and see you on the road! I'm in Portland, OR, by the way, see a number of VFRs around here.

Here's a shot of the new bike - good shape though previous owner dropped it on both sides! ...the fairings are a little scratched but OK otherwise

Welcome to the group, CMA. My one suggestion is to make sure your charging system is in good order. Regulator/rectifiers (r/r) are a known failure issue, make sure your battery is in good shape and that the r/r is doing it's job. :)
