Just wanted to introduce myself to you fellow gear heads! My name is Alex and I am out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Just picked up my first VFR800, a 2001 that I picked up from the original owner with only 15K on her! She's mint except for a some rash on the left lower fairing, so if anyone has one for sale please let me know!

My last street bike was a Ducati Monster 750, I sold it a couple of years ago and i've been on dual sports since. I loved the V-twin power of the Ducati, but that bike certainly wasn't designed for tall people (I'm 6'2"). I've always wanted a VFR and got the bug for another sport bike recently. As soon as I rode the VFR, I was in love!

I put 100 miles on her this afternoon after I picked her up. I just love the whine of the gears and the throaty V-4. Linear torque curve, smooth power delivery, loves corners, and is a blast! I noticed the suspension seemef firm and jolting when I hit bumps in the road. I definitely want to put bar risers on it, hopefully gen mar will give me enough height.

I also ride a 1983 Honda XL600R and a 1999 Corvette (both of them red too so they go faster)

Hey Alex. Congrats on the new purchase and Welcome to the WORLD. You are now the proud owner of owner of one the finest bikes Honda has ever produced. Not that we here are at all partial. Noooooo. LOL

If you're looking for a bit of an adjustment to the bars as far as height goes, I had a set of heli-bars on my old 4th gen VFR and they made a world of difference. A friend and I have a 2000 VFR that we are going to part out, and it has a set of heli-bars. If you're interested shoot me a PM. I have a set for my bike already otherwise I'd be installing them on mine.

May you enjoy as many miles on your new steed, as I have on mine.

WOW! that one is definitely sharp and looks very well maintained. If the little rash on fairing bugs you, find a good motorcycle body man and have him touch-up area and re-clear the whole fairing. You will never be able to tell. I dropped mine one time and had about a 3" circle where it hit the ground. Killed me to look at it every time I rode. Honda store told me the guy they use for their warranty work and I went to him and saw that he did good work so he fixed. Matches the rest perfect. Ironic, because previous owner layed bike down and just order new fairing and installed but the paint is just a shade darker.

Now ride that like you stole it.

Welcome. Extremely nice specimen. My better half is from Zachary and me from Lafayette a long time ago. Got any real curves down there? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Just a thought.....at least try to adjust your body and muscle use to avoid risers. I'm 6'1", and use the stock position and love it. I just built my core, leg, back and other muscles as well as learned a long time ago what muscles to keep relaxed. If that doesn't work then go for the risers. I ride the hard core Appalachian twisties every single time I ride and the stock position is super for me. But, you ain't me so I understand. Just a thought to toss out there. Damn nice bike you caught!!

Nice to see there are neighbors here!

Hello from Springfield. Worked in Baton Rouge and have a sis in Prairieville.
If you see another RED VFR there it will probably be me.

There's another guy from Prairieville, too. Sucks that our local forums died off. I believe he has a red '14. If you see someone on a white '14 with American flags on the fairings breaking his neck to check out your bike, that'd be me.
