As the title suggests, are the 5th and 6th generation fuel pump assemblies the same, interchangeable?

On a side note, on my 5th Genner, I've installed the newer styled fuel filter, as the original unit's flow was obviously degraded.

I've sourced and purchased and received a 5TH Gen tank, but of what I can find, is that there maybe a 6th Gen one available cheaper than a sixth; go figure. A second set of clothes is slowly becoming a reality with the 5th.

    Thanks group.

Fifth gen year 2001 fuel pump assmbly. 16700-MBG-30 price-$309.48

Sixth gen year 2005 fuel pump assembly 16700-MCW-D02 price $337.30

So, doesn't look like they are the same.

I have not removed the 6th gens tank or pump assembly. Are they interchangeable? Has anyone done this?

I do know that the original pump assembly has a fuel filter that is straight, no bends; however, the filter model has been changed to a model which has a bend and eliminates the bend found between the pump and filter.

Would the model numbers be different because of this change to the filter?

At the end of the day, are the parts interchangeable? Has anyone done this?

    Thanks.

Later on, I may remove the tank...to compare. That is a lot of work.

    Thanks again group.

Thanks. Since obtaining an extra 5th Gen tank, I'd like to go ahead and outfit it. Believe I can grab relatively cheaply a 6th assembly.
