I've been lurking here for a couple weeks as I recently got a 86 vf500f and have been looking for info. Figured I would say hello and try to contribute some as i continue to pull what I can from your collective.

This is my first bike. I've wanted one since I was a kid, 30 now and happened across this. Got it in a trade for a basement reno job. It has sat since 2003 and is my winter project this year. No idea what I am doing, just pulling of panels and cracking into it then running here when I question myself. So far so good.

Right, that should be enough for now. Cheerio from Ottawa.

Thought I would bump this thread and say hi again; it's been a while since my last post.

No excuse for absence other than life. My business took off in the spring and I've had little free time. What I do have I try to spend doing things that make me money, like hobbling together a cat house with demoed materials recovered during the week. Now though I realize summer is gone and my bike still does not run...

It's mostly fully rebuilt. I'm just stuck with replacing the filter on the fuel selection valve. It was destroyed during disassembly. I was trying to fabricate a housing from an aluminum pipe, then stuff with filter material. But I made a good deal of progress beyond what's pictured below before finding out it won't fit in the tank.

Anyway, was wrenching, thought of [you].
