New to the forum thing. Always coming here for information, so i figured id make myself known.

From the Wichita area in central Kansas.

Purchased my current 6th gen about years ago, 2002 ABS model. Bought it with just over 20,000 on the ticker, currently at 30,000.

Just did new tires (Metzler Roadtec Z6, OEM front sprocket, +2 Superlite rear sprocket, and 520 DID chain conversion.

    Welcome aboard! Great looking ride!!

There's a few VFR riders out your way! I've been known to drop in down there from time to time from Canada.

Love to hangout if I'm down there with my VFR sometime.

How do you like the Z6s so far? Been running the Bridgestone T30 EVOs now for the last 2 sets and love them. I don't think I could ever do the chain conversion - I travel long distance heavy and frequently.

This will be my second set of them. I got 10,000 miles out of the first pair. They are good in the rain, sticky in the twists and turns, and from a price point ($180 for the pair from motorcycle-superstore.com) they are almost unbeatable. Love them.

I was leary about the 520 conversion. i'm leaving for a 1,500 mile 4 day trip on Friday. So, we'll see how it goes. If i don't like it, it wasn't an outrageous amount, and easy to return to stock.

If you're ever down around this way. Let me know!

Where are you heading? Going solo or with a group?

I'll definitely be down your way at the end of May on my way to the R3 event with OH!_Anne.Marie. Also ictghost is from around there as well and has a beautiful Viffer in a somewhat rare and unique colour.

Here's a couple photos from when I was down there ...

ictghost ... it's his bike ... it looks metallic in the light. It's a brilliant colour and the photos don't do it justice!

Heading east to Missouri, down through Arkansas and back through Oklahoma.

Going with a group of guys from work. About 13 of us I believe. Most of us are camping. Should be a good ride!

Good lord, I'm just hoping to get 3K out of the second rear on my '14 now. If it makes it, it will be an absolute miracle. I got 2800 out of the POS OEM rear and in hindsight would have just taken it off new and thrown it away.

Ooooh, sounds like an awesome ride!!
Highway 412 in east OK was surprisingly beautiful!
I did something similar to that on my own in April, but it was just shy of 1,000 miles in a day and a half. Quick run just for scenery.

Have a super ride and holler when you get back!
I'm usually available from rides and ictghost may enjoy going along too! :)

Back from the trip! Had a good ride, for the most part. Started it off with an emergency stop at Powersports of Joplin in Missouri. The jackwagon that originally balanced my tires had no clue what he was doing. I noticed an extreme vibration on both front and rear wheels. So, i called ahead to a shop in Springfield Missouri, made an appointment, and headed towards them.

Pulled over to due to my ABS light flashing and realized I had much bigger problems. I looked for the closest shop, just so happened to be in Joplin. The vibrations must have loosened just about every bolt in the front end of my bike.
I noticed the bolts that pinch the front axle into my forks and the bolts holding my left caliper on to the forks were loose enough to spin out with my fingers. The front right caliper was missing a bolt completely, I could slide it back and fourth off of my rotor. The remaining bolt was only threads away from dropping out, sending my caliper between a spoke and a fork. Could have ended disastrous.

The guys in Joplin fixed me up, both wheels were out of balance by a ounce and a half each.. not okay.

Got it all fixed up, torqued down, $90 later, and it was smooth sailing from there.

Ill post some pics of the ride when I get home from work. Put just over 1600 miles on the old girl.

Wow. Thank goodness you checked everything when you noticed the issue.

Glad you made it home safely and with only a minor repair bill.
