Stopped by my closest Honda dealer (not where I purchased) and they quoted me the following prices:

    Honda Quick Shifter $270 plus $190 labor (2hrs x $95/hr)=$460 total installed.
600 mile first service for $142.50

Are these fair prices or should I look for better?

By the way, the parts guy when I asked about the quick shifter was trying at first to look up aftermarket shifters and didn't even know Honda made one for the Interceptor. The service guy had also never heard of it and had to read through the printout of the installation instructions I gave him to figure out what they would charge to install it. This might be a bad sign that I should not use this dealer if they have no experience doing the install? Has anyone in Central Florida had this done and can recommend a dealer with experience doing it?

Fair prices? Um, doesnt matter -- the dealer sounds like a moron. Run away!

-CandyRedRC46 might be able to point you in a good direction. He's another Florida VFR geek guy.

You can download the instructions for the quickshifter from Honda's website. It's pretty straightforward install so you might be able to tackle it yourself & save a few $$$!

My QS came on the bike, absolutely love it. You can install it yourself, if you need pictures, I can post some. $270 sounds about right, but check around.

Thanks guys, I'll take a closer look at the instructions and see if it's something I can tackle myself - might make a nice project for my son to work on with me.

Although I wouldn't use them either, I find it odd that the first service cost less than installing a QS! Then again, I'd confirm what exactly are they doing for a first service. My recollection is oil and oil filter change, full inspection of the bike and re-torquing any loose nuts/bolts. Wouldn't that take longer than a QS install?

If you have the extra cash and don't do your own maintenance, I would buy the quickshifter and then take it to Cycle Pro. If you are handy, I would just do it yourself. What exactly does the first service include? An oil change and inspection?
