Some of the attire here is based on the safety aspect. Some is based on what one can wear to work IMO. Local prices for a pair of Levi 501s is damn near fifty pesos in the land of no sales tax.

As a disclaimer, the reference is to regular pants excluding Kevlar Pampers and the ever popular crotchless chaps.

Isn't "crotchless chaps" redundant? I mean, chaps by definition are crotchless, if they had a crotch they'd be pants. :potstir:

soW is a figment of our immagination, "it" don't exist. why do I feel like I wana juggle fluffy kittens when I see "its" avatar? I rode last night without a brain bucks/et and just safety glasses, (clear) my excuse was, is that all my helmets where in the bedroomm and I didnt wana wake up anyone. I installed new chain/sprockets and the gearing was a little different and I wanted/needed to take a spin. If anything happened, I would have never lived it down I tell you. I did maybe 10 miles, stop and go for 10 minutes and then out in the everglades where I held the bike open till it reached 120mph - top end for this bike. I came up from the bubble and chit, my face was flapping like it was gona get ripped off. I dont like the feeling, to say the least. Ride was a success and I put the garage to sleep and went to bed. Nice night.

That being said, I ride to work 3-4 times a week about 70 miles round trip and use a one piece Aerostich suit in high viz colour, Thats 99% of my riding, otherwise; if its local I wear 501 levis and a leather jacket, maybe a vest if I am just putzing around the area. Always gloves/boots specific to riding and a brain bucket :peace: cheers

Shoot, if you're going to treat the road like a track, you'd best dress the part.

Those hot Summer nights in Florida suggest sleeping with not a lot on. I am wondering why just the safety glasses? Is this some fashion statement we should know aboot?

I hope that Florida doesn't have a DMV violation that combines speeding with indecent exposure. "Flashing at the ton???"

YEP! I guess he didn't pay attention to the saying "Dress for the slide, not the ride!". Ironic that the ones who did, weren't the ones who crashed. Similar to this guy, that's what happened to my friend, Levis, boots, leather jacket and a low side. His jeans ripped up, he got a bit of road rash and a banged up knee. Bought a leather suit after he got his insurance check! Go figure huh?

I had a bail off of a skate board doing some downhill runs. I had a helmet, knee and elbow pads but didn't have my gloves or wrist protectors. Palms and forearms were rashed pretty bad, a little scuff on my stomach but nothing as bad as my cousin who slid on his belly a few feet! I hit the pavement hands out, then tucked and rolled, he just slid on his belly for a few feet. That was enough for me, no need to experience it falling off of a motorcycle, hence ATGATT for me.

Lot of good rides and meals at Newcomb's Ranch around 84-85, plus one very sad one. I was on my way back from Wrightwood, almost to Newcomb's and this kid passed me obviously too fast, when I went around the next corner, there he was sprawled across the road. He had gone down in front of an oncoming Fiat 128 sedan.

Yah back then everyone was getting helicopter rides out of there. It was insane, one ride on my 84 Interceptor we went up and down ACH three times in a row---- just started riding street and remember I was so freekin jacked up with excitement . That bike made me look and ride great---dirt riding my whole life helped-- hell of a great bike to learn the ropes----
    Wish I could go back
Anyone have a time machine I can borrow?

BB Connetitic had a mandatory "eye-protection" sun-glasses or something if you went with out a brain bucket. The safety glasses prevent wind and big arse everglades bugs from getting into my delicate eyes (read-contact lenses.) My cousin came by one night and when he left, he stuck these clear glasses inside his helmet, he told me its nice if he wanted to open up the shield while riding home, the lenses protected his eyes.

Honestly, I dont know how the Fuk these people ride around without skid lids, it affects your concentration and judgement. I guess its a Darwin thing - In the morning its nice, 6:30i AM about 77 degrees or so, when I leave work, its pretty hot, 90+ degrees, sometimes I make it home in the 35 miles with barely a stop, those times my skivvies are fairly dry, (I know TMI ) When you have some more heavy stop and go, my shirt is sweated through, its all good really. I can take the heat, just drink water and your good to go. You can get used to it. :vtr2:

There was no need for a helicopter. It's one of situations you never forget, I even remember he was wearing gray cords.
