I concur. I would have said a connector but those should have been taken with no connectors from the test point. Nevermind they are all the same resistance.

Could be a poorly wound stator or one with low quality copper.

Is there an actual test port? What I did was cut off the old connector and used the ends of the wires. Seeing your comments made me wonder so I stopped of more insulation to try and get to cleaner conductor. Made sure the engine was warm. It was at 160F and my readings this time hot are 1.5/1.8/2.1. WTF?! I double checked the voltages is too and the were pretty much the same all about 26v at idle and 69 to 70v at 5k.

Well ac voltage is spot on. But resistance is high. So it's your call. The stator is obviously putting out good power. But who knows how long that will last. You might go and put on a new sh847 rr and get a few more years out of that stator. Or maybe a few months... Who knows. But as far as temperature goes. I would go higher than 160. More like 215 after the fan has cycled on and off.

Well, I tried it again at 220F this time it showed like 100 ohms. I think something is wrong with my multimeter. It touched the probes together and it was showing 59 ohms. Did some adjusting and got it all the way down to 1.1ish. I'm going to try with a fluke from work tomorrow.

It looks like I had a blown fuse in my meter. An itty-bitty 0.3a one. Going to go to radio Shack and see if they have a replacement. I'm hoping that with a new fuse the resistance comes out good and my stator it ok.

Yeah, I know you can't see the element.

I deleted some in my inbox ----- yeah I still have some mount plates left. This is for the FH020AA only. (www.roadstercycle.com) They look like the photos. All fasteners included in the kit. Bolt up, no hassles.. - ($14.95 +$6.00 shipping) PM for PayPal info...

Jeez you got a nasty mess going on there.... Heads up for you... Fuse holders are rated for amperage draw too, and the replacement your pic showed is on the wimpy side. Just recently saw a thread of the exact same part all melted up. See if you can find a Metripack 630 fuse holder - they are rated for 46 amp draw. --- I am a firm believer of overkill fixes on Honda's charging system.

(somebody suggested this looks like a scared guy or something)

It does kind of look like a scared guy!

Thanks for the heads on up the fuse holder. I ordered one of the ones you suggested. I'll get it installed as soon as it gets here.

I checked the stator again using a good fluke from work. I like these numbers a bit better. What do you guys think?

Looks good. Keep the stator. Get a new roadstercycle rr. Either an fh020 or sh847 depending on your budget. Then cut that stator wire back as far as you can get away with and solder them together. Install a voltmeter. Maybe a vfrness if you have some extra money left over. Should last you a while :)

Awesome! I'll order up a new R/R later today. I already have a VFRness that I haven't installed yet.

I got the R/R ordered. Is there a place that is recommended for the voltmeter?

I use the Lascar voltage meter myself. It's easy to read in the daylight. Some of the LED ones are shite to read in daylight.

Always get LCD over LED if you can.

I bought a cheap LED meter and installed it up through the steering head. As Jeff says, not easy to read in direct sunlight (I shade it with my hand during the day) and LCD would be better, but cheap and effective. I have my meter hooked to the battery terminals, with the positive wired through a fused relay triggered off the taillight wiring.

Yeah I have to shade mine with my hand during the day too, not too much of an issue though.

Awesome thanks! I like the steering head idea if I didn't have my RAM mount in there.

So I got the new R/R in today and soldered up the stator wires. When I got to the other wires it got a bit confusing. The old one has 2 red, 2 green and one black. While the new one has only a red and black. How do I wire it up?
    Thank you for the help.
