The one with the lake is Big Creek Lake on the north end of the Grizzly-Helena trail, NW of Walden, CO.
The other one with the shack is Webster Pass, a popular 4X4 route.

It was taken at the Gunnison river in the Curecanti National Recreation area on highway 50.

Great photos Gator. Thanks for sharing this. Maybe my friend and I might just head out that way instead of doing Baker. When I think of it, when I am packed for a trip to R3, the only thing I don't pack to do a hike is the walking poles. Something I need to re-think for next 3. I pack clothing for three seasons and tent and sleeping bag as it is.

Randy I think Black Diamond makes a 3 stage pole that gets very small and they are light weight.

I got a set of poles from one of my kids for Christmas last year after they felt sorry for me on my Elk Mountain hike. Off hand, I don't know what brand they are but they do not appear to be heavy. They are telescopic so fold down nicely. Two days after that one, I could not walk for a couple days and was in complete agony. But so far this year, the only issue has been a knee which doc now says shows no more damage than the x-rays of 2010. But the hike I was on is classified as a black diamond trail as far as difficulty goes. Don't have a fucking clue what that meant at the time but have a reasonable understanding now. So back to the trails. I will just lighten the terrain challenges.

We were in Colorado for 9 days, hiked every day. Not real long, I'm easing my girlfriend into this. 9 miles was the longest day, 5 miles and near 2000' elevation gain was probably the hardest. Caught a nice trout at a high altitude lake on fly. I'll get that off her phone and post it up.
Poles will not only save your knees and help with balance in talus fields and rough terrain, they take a load off your entire body. There are formulas as to how much weight you save on the legs and back when you hike with them. Very surprising, in the 10's of thousands of pounds a day.

Nice photo. My friends that live in Silverthorn do a lot of mountain biking. Him and his wife both have Pivot carbon fiber bike. . I about crapped myself when they told me how much they cost. 8k a piece. But they are really serious doing extremely hard riding. They are not garage queen bikes.

Hey Tink, what's up with the 29er rear and 26 front? Probably does great on the climbs, but not so much on the downhill runs.

I did not notice that before. I remember there were 29 front and 26 rear bike, kind of like dirt bikes but that look the opposite.

That's just funny photo tricks. It's strictly 29er. Something to do with how it's wedged into the snowbank and the front is further away from the camera.
    This is the same ride:
